A friend who works for HBO confirmed the show's return and its taping. He also added that one of the Jonas Brothers will be joining the cast
Confirmed: Kevin Jonas is the new Lydia.
Joining the cast meaning…Adam? Otho? Beetlejuice? Charles? I literally can’t imagine any of the three joining this.
Unless your post was sarcasm. If then, egg’s on my face.

I remember Kat Steele did a YouTube Video when she saw Beetlejuice on Broadway and she said she sat next to the Jonas Brothers and Sophie Turner. I also wonder if one of the Jonas Brothers would just tape one show for Beetlejuice so it can air on HBO later or actually do multiple performances.
The evolving dynamic of this board seems to be a curious amalgam of cluelessness and sarcasm. We could do better. Do we aspire to?
I think that’s a generational dynamic. Remember, the classic era of this board was populated primarily by one demographic: well-educated gay men of the boomer and Gen X dynamic.
Nowadays the demographic is more spread out, and the “sarcasm/cluelessness” vibe you describe is the dominant style of discourse on Reddit, a site so all-inclusive that it’s known as “the front page of the internet.” You can bemoan whatever happened to class, but the internet is speaking a different language today.
I mean Nick Jonas did Jersey Boys.
That leaves Kevin and Joe. And I don't know what role either of them could even play? I guess they could be the Dad, but they aren't quite on the same age level as Kerry Butler. And I don't think they'd play Beetlejuice. And Kevin wouldn't bring in any new viewers. So, I'm gonna guess that's just a weird rumor.

I don't really buy into the generational explanation. First, I am not really talking about the "classic era of this board" {and boy do I put that in quotes LOL} but about much more recently. I wouldn't deny SOME influence but I would not write it off to that. Second, I know a ton of young people who are not only well educated but knowledgeable about the theatre and who know how to use the internet to avoid embarrassing themselves by appearing naive and ignorant. Some of those people are even on this board regularly. Third, a lot of the clueless people and most of the sarcastic people I am talking about do not appear to be "young" based on the ongoing context of their posts here. What prompts me is not some reverse ageism but the hope that at least some people who post things when they don't know what they are talking about, and who don't lift a finger to avoid embarrassing themselves, will think before they type, for their own benefit as much as the overall value of the board. This is about cluelessnes etc. The sarcasm seems, tbh, to be more of a reaction to the cluelessness and although some of it is lame, I am not really faulting it as unreasonable.
But here's the thing: they BELEIVE that they know what they're talking about.....so they have no reason to "think before they type." They already have.

It's already been established that revisions to the script are being made
It's probable that a new character or two are being added for a Jonas Brother

That may be so but verifying what we believe before asserting it is a level of scholarship we expect of 8th graders writing papers for school. To quote myself: "We could do better. Do we aspire to?"

I'm leaning toward Joe on this one.

I thought you were kidding. Are you serious? Revisions are being made and they are adding a new character after all this time?
My bet is the Otho track is getting beefed up. It’s always been stuck between “cameo” and “almost a feature track.”
I mean, I don't see WHY a Jonas Brother would be Otho, except a paycheck. It doesn't show any vocal ability or acting or anything. The only part I could see him playing would be the Dad, which is kind of playing against his "bad boy" image, which might work for him. But think this would work well at the Marquis. I could see all the house lights being purple and stuff.

Not sure when that YouTube person went but I know Rob McClure is friends with the Jonas Brothers as they grew up in the same area in New Jersey.
Reminder to everyone that Dollypop has posted laughably false rumors about Beetlejuice and its return many, many times over the last year. He is in no way a reliable source of information here.

Maybe I've just never paid that much attention, but which Jonas has a "bad boy" image? I've always seen them spoofed as very goody-goody Disney boys (such as the purity ring episode of South Park).

She did see the show in May (when someone asked in the comments). She doesn't give an exact date though. I provided the video here:

Barbra Streisand saw “Porgy and Bess” in 2012. Doesn’t that automatically mean she was going to replace Audra? Is that how it works?

Previous poster did say there is the possibility of making one or two characters to accommodate a Jonas Brother (if true).
They aren't rewriting the show for a JoeBro
