wouldn't be surprised if she jumps into something rather quickly.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Same. The gloating vultures on here are as pathetic as always. Oh well. They got their wish for all the closings. Now maybe they’ll all shut the f*ck up for a little while, until they all start rooting for the next set of closings.
"

Considering you spend a lot of your time on here these days insulting members you don’t like even when they’re not doing anything, maybe you can share in that shut the f*ck up as well and stop acting like you’re somehow better than the rest of us.

Or else another witch will put a curse on you.

There she is! The Snark Queen with nothing valuable to add, determined to derail another thread!

Jasmine and her agents will have to strategize carefully, because she probably has a ton of offers now and it is easy to make wrong moves.

She should take a TV show or movie if it gets offered to her. Theatre will always be there, and developing new musicals takes a long time. We've seen the pitfalls of rising stars who've attached themselves to new musicals for years, turned down other jobs, and then the shows die a quick death.

I’d love to see her do an original Netflix series, which can hopefully blow up and give her more of an audience.

Just so long as she comes back to theatre :)

Matt Roger’s - You were just airing your grievances about other members of the board (aka: not the point of this thread), but somehow anyone who engages or responds to that is hijacking?

Get a mirror, Mary. Thisprojection is just downright silly. If you want people to stay on topic, then you have to do the same, instead of veering off course into petty & passive aggressive remarks.

Hag, I was commenting specifically on this thread, where various members of the Broadway Hate Club decided to gloat about Boop’s closing. Snark Queen Kaddy tried to derail by blasting me specifically. She has done so in the past. It’s comical.

Saw the show last month.  LOVED it.  I too agree it's very special.  Been listening to the score since it dropped.  Anyway.... just ordered a pair of tickets for the 5th,

Can't we all get along?  We have different opinions, and that's ok, and we don't need to be mean and cruel.  Let's all calm down.  It's not that serious

Congratulations to all on a successful closing!  This will, apparently, bring a certain someone a lot of joy. Kudos and  congrats!

I do think this will do well on tour, it will attract the senior crowd who "knows" Betty Boop, musical fans, and those who just want some pleasant "fluff".  I can't wait to see it...on tour.

In markets with  strong subscriber base, what doesn't do well on tour?

I went looking for a cheap seat to see Suffs in Las Vegas this coming October & wanted the Sunday closing show since my Friday & Saturday are already booked.  I was surprised to see it was already really well sold.  I have Thursday night free as well, but I'm thinking of seeing Dita Von Teese & she doesn't do the Sunday night.

I would have liked to have been able to see what sound like strong production numbers in this show,  but the whole book sounds terrible. I guess somebody got rights to Betty Boop & was hoping to cash in?  They would have been better off financially to do nothing.

Did it get mentioned here anywhere about who the person behind all the Instagram nastiness was?  On reddit people seemed to narrow it down to some Russian Betty Boop impersonator, who probably doesn't have any rights to the character.

I don't think selling this particular IP is that tough. I think the logo design was pretty cool, made the show stand out. Nice, unique scenic design, crowd pleasing choreo, truly talented, charismatic leading lady.  It's just the book is really, really awful. Pandering, tiresome, unnecessary political, random bizarre love story that could've been cut entirely. It didn't feel fresh. The sexual harassment scene doesn't make it truly family friendly, although the show was marketed as such.

Agree. The book was a mess. The political/sexual harassment thing should have been chopped in workshops. This show should have just been infectious fun. And it does have its moments.

Victoria Byrd was amazing as Betty on June 21st.  Has anyone else seen her in the lead role?

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

To be clear, though, that's not why the show didn't find an audience. Sure the book may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the reviews were mixed to positive for the show overall. The show is, unfortunately, a hard sell to modern audiences who don't know anything about it other than that it's about a cartoon from the 1930s.

10 thumbs up - 4 neutral - 2 thumbs down

Is that really mixed? I'd say positive. I realize my fandom is showing. I loved the show.

There is just something to be said about how fantastic it's been, especially these days, to simply  'turn off' the outside world and sit in a theatre with a smile on your face.

When is the last time we had this kind of melodic feel good catchy score? I can't believe that "A Little Versatility", "In Colour", "Where I Wanna Be", "Why Look Around the Corner", "Something to Shout About" and "The Colour of Love" was deemed not worthy of a nomination. It should have won the Tony!

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Both shows yesterday were soldout plus SRO. I'd assume the same for today. They were still handing out $55 rush tickets this week for anyone that wanted one. Probably will have a very high final capacity % but low grosses and a low average ticket price.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. Well, Broadway got a lot less colorful and fun today with this one closing. "Boop" was a musical that surprised me in the best way possible when I saw it in previews, honestly I never expected the Betty Boop musical to be something I'd adore or the leading lady to give one of the better performances of the entire season and be so lovable. But that's why I love theater and the surprises you get from it.

I used to always go to final performances of shows I liked, it was a way to say goodbye and make the memory live a little longer. But over the years I've stopped going to them (mostly) because the audiences are insufferable. The worst of the worst of the "this is about ME" crowds now flock to them and sadly, today was no different. But I kind of made an agreement with myself walking in today, to just tune it out the best I could and focus on the stage. And that worked. Most of the time.

But as for the show, it was a spectacular performance with everyone firing on all cylinders, leaving nothing in them. You could tell the cast was very appreciative of the love but when Ainsley sang the first line of "Why Look Around the Corner" and had to stop because he couldn't get another note out, I did start to cry along with him. It was such a beautiful moment with Jasmine there just looking at him letting him know he was ok. And then that ovation after "Something To Shout About" was something I obviously knew was coming but even I was shocked at how long it (deservedly) went on for. Jasmine was sobbing, we were sobbing, it was a whole thing. But yeah, I'm going to miss this one. Jerry Mitchell came out and said the obligatory "The world hasn't seen the last of this show" thing but this time I truly hope he's right.

I'd say closing performances are a lot less special because of all of the stupid influencers A.) hogging the rush line that morning. B.) Trying to get as many bootlegs from the final show C.) running up to the front of the stage during curtain call. There's a lot of entitled influencers that tend to ruin the final show.

Looking back on the season, while MHE was clearly the standout, BOOP was the biggest surprise and therefore the most fun in realtime. (I expected to love Mincemeat, which i mostly did, and while Dead Outlaw was a better show, it was even better downtown...)  It not being nominated for score is just plain silly, and its a shame this never found an audience. I can see this doing OK in a few select cities, though I'd imagine theyd need Jasmine to tour?

Regardless, this deserved more respect and more audiences. Well done, team.

Every show that makes it to Broadway deserves respect. This show is no exception. However, it is time to move on. No matter how much I wanted it to succeed, it did not. Where was Foster today? Oh ya, shilling his cruise ship tour.
