There's a photo op with him and the cast on Broadway.com. Is it me or does he look completely uncomfortable around them? He kind of has this lifeless look on his face. The link is below.

"Is it me or does he look completely uncomfortable around them?"

It's you. He leapt to his feet and gave the cast a standing ovation midway through the second act after "Sail On, Sailor."

Well that's good. In no way is this thread meant to trash the show. I've seen it myself and while it doesn't rank in my top 10 I still had a decent time.

Either he's abused the Botox or he's been embalmed.

He doesn't have a smile on his face because he's never seen such crap on stage before.

P.S. He joined the cast onstage at the end of the show and took a bow with them. He also autographed several of the beach balls with the GV logo to be auctioned off for the benefit of BC/EFA.

And on an OffTopis note: Who would have thought that the DeVito kids would be so darned pretty?

I swear he did a while back.

I would have a stroke if someone took my brilliant music and turned it into Good Vibrations.

I really think he did.

I guess that puts a fun, new spin on the whole "him not smiling" thing.

If I remember right Brian Wilson has always had "problems" in large group situations.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

sinenomine, No matter how much he enjoyed the show, he looks shellshocked in those photos. One has nothing to do with the other, sorry.

second, it would appear from your several posts this week that you are a) a cast member, b) a crew member, c) work for the theater, producers or PR staff or d) a fan who has not only seen the show a plethora of times already but also converse with those involved in the production.

ALL of your posts state facts and figures and a specific knowledge that even a typical wicked fan wouldn't know.

Let's just call this a friendly warning, because the more you post and the more it becomes blatantly obvious, the more others on here are likely to attack you just for the sake of it.

Brian Wilson is not a well man. That could explain why he looks the way he does.

Brian's looked like that for years, poor guy. Though his concert at Carnegie Hall WAS quite good. I'm glad he's still getting out and doing things, even though it's no secret that it's not exactly easy for him.

JeffG, Considering all the untruths being said, It's maybe a good thing to have someone who can ,god forbid, give the facts. sinenomine keep up the good work.
It would be good to keep in mind that it's OK for someone may know the truth and be POSITIVE about a show to post.
Brian Wilson is not doing well, that is a fact and the look on his face has nothing to do with whether or not he liked the show. I believe people know that, but just want to trash the show. Its really getting old. We all GET that there are those of you who don't like the show. Girlfriend from canada, you are the most positve person, I love to read your posts.

I remember watching the ABC biopic on the Beach Boys a few years ago... doesn't Brian Wilson have or has suffered from some kind of disabling disorder?

And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...

Just to clear up a few things. . .

Yes, Brian suffered through a terrible ordeal for years stemming originally from an abusive father. It's well-documented, so there's no need to go into detail here. Suffice to say, the fact that one of the greatest songwriters of the Pop Age is now performing, creating and, indeed, functioning again is a testimony to Brian's heart and the triumph of the human spirit. It's one thing to criticize GV or even Brian's music. But to criticize the way this wonderful, brilliant man looks in photos after what he's been through is so despicable that it's beneath contempt.

With that out of the way, I first want to thank JeffG for his friendly warning and KJP for his kind words. There’s no need to speculate as to my identity nor as to my connection with the show. I make no attempt to hide the fact that I am indeed a huge fan of GV (along with those associated with it) and that I do have access to accurate, inside information. Moreover I would like very much to see this show succeed. There's no hidden agenda here. Given the particularly harsh criticism the show has taken – particularly by those with agendas yet unstated -- and the wildly inaccurate rumors that have been floated, I want to make sure that there's a knowledgeable, accurate voice to set the record straight.

I will note one thing in passing: It’s remarkable that anyone feels the need to warn someone who has accurate inside information and is an admitted champion of a show about possible negative attacks. In my experience on the Boards of other interests, such a person is usually welcomed as a valued contributor. Having said that, neither JeffG nor KJP nor anyone else need be concerned. I understand full well that in this business there are those who derive a peculiar delight from stooping to inaccurate and/or personal attacks. Those who know me can testify to the fact that I’m not easily discouraged!

For now I’ll note a few more GV facts:

First, sorry to disappoint the GV haters, but GV is going to be around for awhile. Despite what you may have read on this Board, the fact is that the overwhelming majority of the audience, along with those associated with the show, including its investors, have been hugely supportive of the show. In addition to the Jane Hanson special which airs first this Saturday night and Brian Wilson’s appearance and support, a new billboard has been added on W. 44th Street next to the Helen Hayes and a :30 TV commercial will begin airing this coming Monday the 28th.

Second, others have noted that, although GV’s seating capacity percentage has been relatively low, the average ticket price is firmly in the upper half of all Broadway shows. There is method to this madness. There’s no trick to getting people to come see a Broadway show. The trick is to get them to pay enough for their seats so the show will ultimately thrive, not just survive. A show which survives continues to provide work for all those involved which is a good thing. But a show which thrives and pays back its investors encourages others to invest in Broadway, thereby allowing more shows to be produced, more theater people to be gainfully employed and more people to experience the wonder of this industry we all love. That’s a great thing!

sinenomine, That was the most articulate writing I've seen to date on this board. Thank you for keeping us informed, that kind of information is why I came to the board. Margo Channing is the other who just posts facts, I love that. No concern here, just appreciation. Thanks again
