I know RWHC was rumored to have been kicking around a 1 or 2 week extension based on the boom in sales. If they were gonna go for it, now would be the time to announce it.
Stranger Things hovering around $1M is DEFINITELY not cutting it. They might benefit from the culling of the limited runs and closures the next few weeks, but their advance is terrible. Any other show at that theatre would’ve packed up and pulled out.
The drops for Old Friends and MHE are likely due to Bernadette and Darren each being out a few shows
Happy trails to SMASH, FLOYD COLLINS, THE LAST FIVE YEARS, and Cole Escola.
Five more shows close this week. BOOP continues to bleed money. Are they really hoping the lack of shows next week will get them out of the red?

I had read about Bernadette Peters missing some shows at ''Old Friends,'' but I didn't know about Darren Criss being out of ''Maybe Happy Ending.'' When was that? He rarely calls out.

It was likely a prearranged absence. Steven Hyunh was on as Oliver both shows on 6/18
It's certainly not enough yet to be safe but Boop having its best week since April may have contributed to no closing announcement yet.
New high for Buena Vista and Just in Time
Cabaret seemed to benefit from the closing announcement.
Death Becomes Her not suffering at all from Hilty's leave of absence.
Harry Potter has recovered big time as the summer months kick in. Stranger Things has been looking better too.

Nice to see the bump for Real Women..., even if their average ticket price is still the lowest of any show (with Dead Outlaw beating it by a dollar. Even with the boost, the audience just doesn't seem to be there for it, which is very sad.

It was announced one week earlier; on another board people reported getting the email that he would be out and being disappointed since there was no way to reschedule with the show being so well sold and prices so high.
Boop had it's best week...yet is still about $200K shy of it's weekly nut. Maybe producers want to see if they can eat up audiences from the closing shows, but I don't think it will make a difference.
Stranger Things isn't doing the business it needs to for such a massively expensive production. But I think Netflix will pump money into it to push it through to the holidays/Season 5 premiere no matter what. It's a cross-promotional/brand synergy venture for them, so it's not the same calculus as with most other Broadway shows.
I'm fairly shocked that they aren't able to fill up the house for Call Me Izzy, though financially they are probably fine because it can't be that expensive to run (Smart's salary is probably the main budget line). Haven't looked at house maps, but maybe folks just don't want to sit way back in that mezz for such an intimate show so those seats are going dead?

Congrats Boop for your ability to annoy a few here closing notice or NOT. You've been a delight this Broadway season. Cheers to you!

I don't see anyone being annoyed by Boop. The Boop troll, on the other hand...

MHE's numbers have been updated - they missed reporting a performance. That makes more sense; even with Criss out, it was still showing sold out almost all week, so I was wondering how it could have dropped so much!

The show got fairly bad reviews and the subject matter isn't exactly a light evening at the theater

unfortunately the RWHC cast got confirmation yesterday that there’s no extension. They are indeed closing on Sunday.

There could be an unlikely path to success for Boop where less competition and summer tourists help turn the show around.....I would say never but after Maybe Happy Ending I've learned never to say never.

Foreigners aren't coming over this summer. Europeans and Canadians aren't traveling to the US this summer. Maybe Asians are, haven't seen numbers on them, but it's a drastic plunge that likely doesn't aide in any struggling shows.

You would be wrong - as someone who works at a long running Broadway show - 60% of the crowd are tourists from Europe & Canada , most people do not care the least about Trump and politics - I’m in the real world - it’s all tourists - same as always and it’s almost end of June - still waiting for what The View told me to come true, again normal people do not care about politics , they are here . I speak to them , nobody is talking about the things MSMBC told you they care about

Tell that to all of the hotels and restaurants that are starting to see a decline in business now. And not just NYC, but also Vegas, the Jersey shore, Florida...
Even if you do work in a public-facing position at a Broadway theater, you have no unique insights into the numbers of tourists visiting the city. You have only some insight into those tourists that go to your theater.

And you work in tourism ? Face it the TV told you this , I actually work in a place where tourists visit - 6 days a week , it’s just not true , and as far as hotels many people stay out of the city in places like White Plains - because it’s cheaper - I will say this Times Square is dead - the tourists are getting smarter and visiting other places in the NYC and surrounding area, They go to shows and visit other area instead of walking in circles around Times Square

There appears to be a clear decline, and I'm sure it will have an impact on Broadway (in low margin businesses such as much of the hospitality industry even a small decline can have catastrophic impacts on profit), but it's not like it's gone from 100 to 0 so to speak. So I'm still hopeful there will be SOME uplift in Broadway demand over summer.
For what it's worth, there were 313,434 seats sold and/or comped last week vs 328,951 this week, which is a 5% increase (although maybe all the closings could have helped).
