$3,779,453 for Leslie’s first week back. 101% capacity and a $352 ATP.
Happy trails to Erika Henningsen at JUST IN TIME.
PUNCH will limp to November as expected, and GODOT is a big fat hit.

Calm down…
PUNCH hasn’t even had a full week of performances. And GODOT has had one performance.

A bit surprised that most of these grosses went up considering Broadway Week is in effect, but I suppose that just shows how much the previous week was down. Buena Vista still seems to be doing a surprisingly good job of keeping up with the usual heavy hitters.
Impressive numbers for Chicago. The show hasn't shown an 85% in quite a long time. Hopefully, having Mira Sorvino as Roxie will help increase the grosses.

But what about the death of theatre that was foretold to us?

Currently playing musicals are doing OK because a bunch of new musicals that opened in winter/spring had already closed. Most of them survived just a few weeks post Tony. 2 biggest revivals have closed in summer. It's all the big usual hits and a tiny handful of smaller new musicals that fully take advantage of lack of competition.
Waiting for Godot has a very popular, unproblematic A list celeb, it was always going to be a big fat hit.
No, I don't think Broadway is "saved"
Doomsaying is a weird hill to die on but you do you.
BroadwayWorld 2025 is only good for doomsaying and canceling actors, Kad.

Some of us are paying attention to the state of things, especially the economy in this country and where it's headed. It's been only 9 months. I hope to be wrong.

Based on the uptick with Odom Jr., I wonder if they will try to cast other originals after he leaves, as part of an ‘all-year long’ celebration. Odom Jr. had the more appreciated role (not by me — everyone I have seen in the role subsequent to him was just as good, if not better), but I would imagine getting two of the others, for instance Diggs and Goldsberry would extend the price resurgence ( IMO, they gave two of the best featured performances I have ever seen.
On another note, am I correct in interpreting a prior period post that, even if DBH does not return its investment on Broadway, it is likely to end up well in the black if the national tour(s) and subsequent regional productions, etc., are as successful as that poster suggested? If that is the case, I imagine that is how BVSC will return its investment. The grosses it has sort of settled into do not seem like they are going to return initial investment unless it runs for a long time, with ongoing good (if not great) weekly profits.

When another cast member from Hamilton announced their final show, it did cross my mind that maybe they'd try to bring back other OGs.

The rest of us aren’t paying attention to the state of the country…? lol
And nine months of what…? The year 2025? Did Nostradamus predict that theater will die this year? What am I missing?
People have been bemoaning the forthcoming death of theater since the beginning of the art form. Sit down.
How can Hamilton have an average ticket price of $1200, but a top ticket price of $352.36?

They must be swapped by accident.

What a relief that we are not in the final year of Broadway's existence...
Those Hamilton numbers are WILD.
Even though most everything improved, I still think the shows that are close-ish to announcing a closing date are the same: Gatsby, Hell's Kitchen, Mincemeat, & Juliet, maybe Six, maybe Moulin

When Odom Jr. was first announced, I assumed they were going to bring a different original cast member every back every couple of months, but there haven't been any additional announcements.
I think Goldsberry, Diggs, and Miranda are the only other original cast members that can be brought back in their old roles and it would still be an event. Like maybe Phillipa Soo or Ariana DeBose could be recast as Angelica, or Anthony Ramos as Alexander, which works creatively or doesn't. But like Eliza is a slightly bland part and Philip is a small part.
I don't think it would drive enough ticket sales to justify paying a big name to return if they're not playing Hamilton, Burr, Angelica, or Lafayette/Jefferson.

Moulin still losing. Someone is keeping that alive for their weekly fees. At some point the investors have to realize/complain they are losing 200-400 a week from what should be their final profit statement.
Gatsby is pretty much one owner so he can lose if he wants. HK probably ready to quit - testing the AK concert model? Mincemeat, Juliet and Six all still have some weeks in profit.
