He may find himself in featured roles or as part of an ensemble piece, but these box office numbers pretty much kill the idea that he himself is any kind of a draw right now.
I truly hope they removed or "bow out" of La Cage. Before Cabaret in the US, they was not an exciting idea. Billy is Billy in La Cage is not interesting. We had a group interested in going to La Cage but the casting put a halt on those plans.

Based on his interview with Graham Norton last year before his London run, he also only got the job because Marisha did the same legwork/research he did and had the clout to get him the gig since the producers asked her input and Billy “was on a strike and needed a gig”.
I don’t think this will impact his run at City Center unless he decides to pull a Todrick and try and take over control of as many aspects as he can. But I’m already cringing at the thought of him adding unnecessary histrionics to “I Am What I Am” (but the parody videos will probably be hilarious).

To cut him some slack, La Cage seems like a infinitely better fit for him than Cabaret. We'll see.

The role of Albin is indeed chaos, but also can bring it all inside when the moments need restraint (like during the “Masculinity” sequence). I have seldom know this era of Billy to do anything quietly
