So Matthew Rhys is definitely not doing it? Was looking forward to him doing it

No. He can play much older. Have you seen Station Eleven?"
He’s so good in station eleven. Perfect casting here, I think.

Wow, Phillipa would be thrilling if this is true. It would be amazing if she scored two Tony nominations in one season.

He'll be 32 when this opens. Richard Burton was only 35 when he originated the role. So no, he's pretty age appropriate for the role.

IF true, at least this casting ensures that it won't be difficult to book member tickets when they go on sale.

Wow, that casting is all kinds of HOT.
Take all my friggin' money, please!!!

Patel certainly has the boyishness necessary for an Arthur, though perhaps not the gravitas he must eventually grow into. This trio would also allow the show to be the star, since none of them are selling tickets to the masses, and will certainly be interesting to have people of color in all 3 roles. But we'll see if it's true..."
Of those three, I'm only interested in Phillipa. If that's the official casting, I'm sure they'll be fine but they aren't exciting choices to me.

Station Eleven was the finest TV I've seen in years. Soo and Donica don't need my praise. Still somewhat hesitant about the concept for this production (and a revival of this show at all), but my interest is piqued by this fabulous casting. Cautiously excited.

When do you guys think this will be announced and tickets on sale?

Had wished for better vocals from Donica so can't say I'm interested. Sher's last view efforts have left me a bit "hmm.' I've hated his community pushing the sets around. Just felt very amateurish.

A friend of mine saw the touring production of To Kill A Mockingbird and he said Richard Thomas was pushing scenery!
Hmm. If actors move scenery does equity need to approve the concept? Do the actors get paid more. I am just curious because I know unions can be very specific about who does what.
I do not mind seeing the actors move set pieces. Sometimes it is less distracting that stagehands in black with masks.

How do we know this new casting is true where did we hear this?

No matter what anyone says, you won't know 100% until there is a press release.

Yes, Actors Equity and United Scenic Artists have VERY specific rules on what parts of a set (and which props) actors are allowed to move. If an actor is assigned any such moves, they receive a modest ($20/week) salary increment.

Does LTC usually do a presale

Who Do you guys think will play Arthur?

Equity doesn’t need to approve the concept. What happens, which is shifty, is that if “moving scenery in character” is essential to the director’s concept, it is approved by Equity and the actors are forced to do the scenery. I think there might be something built into certain contacts for people who are in the cast but are moving scenery outside of their character’s part, like doing scene shifts, but I think it’s all a negotiation. MEAN GIRLS for example doesn’t utilize automated scenery and because all of their scenery is on wheels, I wouldn’t be surprised if Equity approved that because it’s apart of the “concept”.

Is it a foregone conclusion that Arthur will be played by a person of color? That’s pretty cool.

Not a done deal but I believe Patel is in the running for it…also heard Rhys

Himesh Patel was just announced as a star of Dan Levy's feature film directorial debut, Good Grief, which goes into production next spring -- so looks like he's out of the running.

Then you think Matthew Rhys has the role?
Posted: 10/17/22 at 4:08pm
Come on Steven Pasquale.... or Chris Jackson.

Think they want a British actor, no?

Matthew Rhys would be my choice thoughts?
