Damn straight! CAMP should be a broadway show. Vlad - Gavin Creel Ellen - ? Michael - ? Jill - Sherie Renee Scott Fritzie - Jennifer Gambatese Dee - Saycon Sengbloh
Movie about teens at a musical theatre camp in new york. It's based on the real camp Stage Door Manor. These kids love Sondheim. It's a so so story line but the kids do lots of great performances from shoed like: Company, Dreamgirls, Promises Promises, Follies, etc..
Camp is a movie about teens at a theater summer camp. It is filled with musical numbers and laughs. It shows the fun, sadness, back stabbing, and psychotic nature of summer camp really well. As well as providing some brake out roles for unknown talented kids. It would be amazing on stage. I disagree with the above casting choices because I would like to see it stay true to the story and have the cast be younger, late teens early 20s. If the people in the movie were that age and could sing like that, there is no reason they couldn’t do it on stage.
"You know just because you put a smiley face after it doesn't change the fact that it was an a-hole comment." ~ Sumofallthings
I doubt it could be on stage, just because most of the musical numbers are from other shows. That's a licensing nightmare, especially if any revivals of those shows are planned.
"You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don't make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and do them so well that people can't take their eyes off you."
- Maya Angelou
Yeah I'm with Kimmy....I can't see it on stage, nor do I want to. The movie was good but it's practically a revue....nothing that would blow people away on Broadway that they haven't already seen.
I don't understand the following for this movie. I thought it was the worst thing I have ever seen on screen. It makes kids who enjoy theater look like freaks and the straight kid makes them feel like they have to strive to be "normal" If it were onstage, I boycott it.
Baby, dream your dream
Close your eyes and try it!
Definitely, thank you! It's one of the worst movies I have ever seen, with some of the most pitiful acting in the history of the cinema. The direction is abominable and the cast is wretched. You couldn't pay me enough money to watch this movie again...
"If you are going to do something, do it well. And leave something witchy."-Charlie Manson
I liked Camp except for Alana Allen. She was terrible.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
I like the idea of the musical, but I think they def. need to get some orignal songs and stuff in there before it comes to B'way. Because if it doesn't then it's basically a "Jukebox" musical all over again.
I loved the movie! It was just a fun movie...don't take it so seriously, enjoy it for what it is. Now, I don't think it should go to broadway, but I definately enjoy it as a movie. I love the number from Dreamgirls and Company.
"Somethin's comin', I don't know what it is but it is gonna be great!"
I am so with you on this Munk. What a dreadful film. Sure there are some talented kids in it, but it is NOTHING like the camp it's supposedly about, which I WENT TO for 3 years! I think it was a huge wasted opportunity.
But I do remember going crazy for "Fame" when it came out and all the grownups I knew hated it, so maybe this is "Fame" for today's youth.
...and if it DID happen on Broadway - they'd certainly have to re-write the ending. It was a pure Hollywood cop-out that he turned out to be a "straight" player...we were hugely disappointed by that.
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!"
Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!
I enjoyed it. It wasn't a masterpiece but it was fun. Got to see Sasha Allen in BARE last year. Love her voice. I didn't know until I just looked in the CD booklet that Idina Menzel and Aisha Dehaas contributed additional vocals to two songs.
I love, love Camp! It would not work on Broadway, but just for fun.... Vlad - Matthew Morrison Ellen - Shoshana Bean Michael - Jai R. Jill - Cristina Applegate Fritzie - Sutton Foster Dee - Saycon Sengbloh Jenna- Frenchie Davis
