Now are they talking of recording this ..I really hope they bring Betty in to be Margaret on the recoding she is what makes this worth listening too..Marin as good as she is doesnt scare me...if they want to sell this Betty has to record it PLEASE
Sorry but there is no way that Marin will be replaced by Buckley..
I feel bad for SONGANDDANCEMAN, he put his heart and soul in this show.
LOL Curtain, maybe you would have liked it if it had naked boys in.
The show WILL have the rights released, this i know for sure. As for a recording i would not say never, it is 100 percent an option. Shame interest fell, but with mediocre reviews and very little publicity its not a surprise. Congrats to the cast and crew
I really hope this gets a recording. Aside from endlessly clunky lyrics I liked a lot of the songs, especially the new In.
When did I say I didn't like it?
Nakedness does not make a good show, it only enhances it (when done correctly).

The whole idea of this revival was misguided from the get-go.
The show's only notoriety, and the only reason it is remembered, is for its outrageous, laughable awfulness.
Take all that away, then all you have is a bad show like hundreds of others that no one wanted or wants to see. Apparently, no one wants to see this one, either.
But if the creators had decided to retain the campy awfulness, would there still have been a large enough audience just for that? Probably not.

"As for a recording i would not say never, it is 100 percent an option"
Recording anything is an option, so what? The only way a recording happens is if the producers or writers pay for it - whether they will or won't remains to be seen, but NO label will be putting up the money for it.
About a year ago, a friend with a show on Broadway told me that it cost about 250k for a cast recording. Can anyone corroborate?
Not that it means much in terms of actuality, but towards the end of the Diva Talk interview with Marin Mazzie there's the following exchange:
Question: Will there be a recording this time around?
Mazzie: I can't say a definite yes, but I'll say I'd be extremely surprised if there's not.
So there might be a cast recording *and* she'll definitely be involved with it.
Diva Talk
Not to hijack, but I've still yet to see this. Has anyone done the rush for this? Is it difficult? I know it's out of the beaten path, so figured it might be not so hard to get a ticket.
I can't speak for rush, but I did the $20 under 30 promotion and got second row seats.
related news: MGM is going to remake Carrie movie. Chloe Moretz ( Let Me In, Hugo)is being considered for the title role.

I wouldn't put too much stock in what Mazzie said. People say things like that al the time, and things don't always come through. As BK noted, someone needs to be willing to pay for it. Until then we can all cherish our boots of the original.
The question is: Now that this show is as dead as a doornail, how long will it be before someone posts a "Do You Think CARRIE Could Have Worked If They Changed..." thread and the needle plunges back into the vein all over again?
I'll be the dewy eyed optimist and say 8 months.
Anyone want to start a pool?
^ Well, you could just refer any such future poster to the preview threads where the ideas about what is wrong with this production were thoroughly discussed.
First they did Vegas Carrie. Now they've done Constipated Carrie. If someone does Stephen King's Carrie, I'm sure we'll hear about it.
At least the show wasn't a flop, it lasted longer than the original.

They're remaking the movie, again? What the hell, why? It has been proven time and time again that no reincarnation of this story will be as successful as the the book and original film.
I love this story, but I didn't know that it was popular enough to be re-made twice.

Yeah, PoL, it was practically a HIT and a cast recording is 100% an option.
"I think they should musicalize THE SHINING next, but make it a story about writer's block."
Rumors tell me THE SHNING Is being made into an opera.

No, you're thinking of THE SCHWING, the Wayne's World opera.
I wonder how much dough it lost?
Had to be one of the most expensive shows to play the Little Lortel.
Glad I came to New York to catch the show during its short run. Based on the musical's notoriety, it was great to finally see a performance. Agree with some others that Mazzie simply couldn't compete with Buckley's voice in the show - though I still enjoyed her in the role. Overall, the flawed production still made for an enjoyable evening of theatre, but in NO way was it ready for Broadway.
I am gonna guess they lost very little if any money, the original budget etc would have been based on the initial run (unless the producers are idiots) and it did play past it's original run
And Stafford is also saying that a recording is looking very likely
