Same here but sadly, vocally she wouldn’t be showcased, but at least her acting chops will be on full display. Sally Bowles doesn’t require great vocal skills which is why CABARET is famous for casting strong actresses who can at least stay in pitch. Sally is a third-rate singer in a third rate sleazy Berlin club. Many forget this.

I’d request a refund if she were out. Especially at those prices."
I'd request a refund if he was in. I'm sorry but I just cannot deal with his Kermit singing. Apologies Eddie.

I think it depends on who is playing Sally. Even the Sam Mendes production, which usually had a Sally that wasn't a great singer, had Susan Egan belting to the heavens when I saw her.
Ive been given wrong information and posted it on here only to find out the info was false so I will not be saying who; but the name that I heard thats in talks for Sally is VERY exciting. Not the biggest name but definitely someone us folks will be very happy with. Once again; I have no idea if what i heard is 100% true.

As long as it isn't Ariana DeBose, I'll probably be fine with it.
Wonder if it's Lea Michele...

Well, she’s spoken about her time in CABARET and how they lowered the keys out of her range so she’d have to fight against the grain to make her singing sound rough. She tried singing rough naturally but found it difficult to do so they agreed to lower the keys so she had to struggle with those low notes.

She did say her next Broadway project was something we knew... aka not a new work.

Just tap my bank account now. I wasn’t that excited to see Cabaret again, but that I would see.

She also said “it’s very different musically,” and I think she would find Funny Girl and Cabaret to be quite similar musically (both being brassy musicals of the 60s).
There have been reports here that a deal is done for her to do CHESS on Bway next spring, so I'll believe that until I hear otherwise.

God, can you imagine the event Cabaret would be if that were her next project? Holy God. And most people know that Funny Girl and Cabaret are nothing alike so yeah, fingers crossed.

Eddie should be on the phone to his agent now. Lea or bust. It would be the event of the decade, so far.

I'm just going to continue dreaming that, because they should just engrave the Tony now. It would be a MUCH stronger showcase than Florence.

Lea also needs to call her agent now. Whatever contracts have been drafted, they should be abandoned and perhaps breached. Whoever is planned for Cabaret can take Lea’s role in Chess. This has to happen.
I disagree. She’d sound great but she’d basically being playing another role already made iconic by so many people. And remember, in the show, Sally isn’t suppose to be all that talented. It’s a divy, ****ty bar. Lea doesn’t really give off that vibe and I don’t think she is a character actress enough to pull that off. I’d much rather the Billie Piper people have mentioned. what a damn talented actor.
Casting the role of Sally as Jewish or as a dark skinned POC would be a very bold choice that makes a very strong statement with the material -one I don’t think is on line with this director’s vision of the piece, at least not as it has been in London.
After seeing Billie Piper in Yerma, I know she can do anything.
She has attended the London production at least twice, and they have been allegedly trying to get her to join the cast since Buckley was leaving.
If it is Lea, tickets will certainly be sold. But who knows?

London has very different sensibilities when it comes to casting than here.

I would see Billie Piper in anything, but Lea is the event.

Lea will absolutely not be able act it. I can't even see her doing the version of Mein Herr and Don't Tell Mama that are there in this production. She could never handle the staging. And there's a reason they've cast all Sallys as younger, and the only exception to that might be Billie Piper, but that's because she's Billie Piper and whatever she's been doing on I Hate Suzie is astounding and makes her perfectly suited to this revival.
I’m not really following the casting rumors — is Billie Piper a pipe(r)dream, or a rumor from a reliable source?

I’m sure she doesn’t want to go through that agony again, but if Billie wants a Tony she should do Yerma on Broadway. About as close to a sure thing as Lea following up Funny Girl with Cabaret.

I would hope not! It would be such a waste! Sally can't really sing and that seems to be the point of this version. Jesse Buckley was amazing in the role but it was still frustrating to hear her sing that way when we know she has a gorgeous voice!

I saw it in London. Hated it. The immersive experience is only in the pre-show. Cliff was awful. I have a friend who saw a previous Cliff and said he was awful too. So soft and whiny. Clearly it's a directorial choice. Sally is constantly in hysterics so her character has nowhere to go. But the biggest wrong is the MC who is constantly angry. It destroys the illusion that as he says "In here, everything is beautiful". Well clearly it isn't, but there's no reason to tick off the audience. Even if they get Eddie Redmayne, he's no Alan Cumming who seduces the audience which is th obvious right choice. Also it feels padded. Act I runs almost an hour and 45 minutes. But theater is art and art is subjective. It's your money and that's my 2¢. Your mileage may vary. But I thought it was awful.
God, Lea Michele would be so horrifically miscast as Sally. Just awful. I do not need to see her put on a ****ty British accent nobody has the courage to correct her on and then belt out these songs like she's British Fanny Brice. No Thank you!
