Hi guys I am absolutely amazed by the news about Carrie Musical. But I have a question. I am writing from Spain and, although i can speak english, I dont know whats the meaning of WORKSHOP. I mean, is it any public performance of the show that you can go and see? Or is it just like a rehearsal?
Thanks. I cant wait for this musical!!!!!
It really depends; some workshops are open to the public and some are invite only. A workshop is essentially a stripped down production and is intended for developing the show (cutting scenes, re-working a character, etc). During this period the Creative Team takes copious notes on what they wish to change based on audience response.

Though she's been connected to too many a flop, Carollee Carmello would be amazing as Margaret White.
This will be revivied at the same time as Lestat will
As much as I too would LOVE a revival of Carrie, I think MrRoxy is right. And while I appreciate the info that westendartist1 is giving us, how much of this can we all believe, as it's only one person that seems to have this info?
The workshop in London is definitely a reality; West End Artist isn't making it up.
I like that fact :)
I'd be intereseted to find out who is working on the revised score...
Does ne one have a update on this info??

Bump.
I just got my hands on a Rehearsal Piano score from Carrie. Makes me really excited if this revival is actually happening.
Do we have any news on what's going on with the revival?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I think with all of the "Wicked" buzz in theatre lately. . "Carrie" has a legitimate shot if it were completely reworked.
I never thought the show was bad. . the stuff with Carrie and her mom has some great moments. The cheesy 80'sness of the show is it's major flaw. If they can rework the entire score of the high school scenes, I would be really excited to see it.
Of course, they could go the campy route, and keep the show as is, but perform it in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
Either way, I want to see some Carrie action on the stage.

The workshop should have happened by now, and not a peep. You'd think a workshop in London of THIS show would have generated SOME news articles. But nothing. Nothing on the net either. Me thinks it either never happened, or was made up.
Hey, almost no one knew about the 2001 workshops for DOTV (and people had been expecting that show -- or rather the show it was initially based on -- to hit Broadway since the 1998/1999 season) until Jim Steinman announced the details on his website. Maybe the workshop didn't go as planned, and that's why we've not heard anything.
So this workshop apprently happened last year sometime (or the year before) and was for 3 days, thats all i heard from here in the UK

Still, you'd think there would be some trace of it online.
I'd love to see this show. With some better costumes and staging, and a few different songs this could work. I think "In" is a great opening number.

Open Your Heart
Eve Was Weak
Dont Waste The Moon (Re orchestrate it)

Carrie Revival?
Only if Debbie Allen choreographs AND directs!
*chuckles*
Debbie was so sweet to sign my CARRIE souvenir program last week after the Wednesday evening performance of CAT.

Hmm as a Carrie-Fan one thing I always loved was how the original production seemed to follow the book rather than the movie. The new script seems to do it vice-versa. Still, I´d love to see a Carrie revival.
Does anyone know if it is really happening by now?
