I love Charlotte, but a triple threat she ain't. A great dancer, even a decent actress, but she never was more than a passable singer. She'll keep taking the Roxy gig at Chicago when it's offered to her, but she isn't likely to get offered much else. She and Terrence have a kind of teaching camp for young dancers and actors, and I think they're pretty ok with heading in that direction.
She’s quite active on Instagram. Follow her and you’ll know what she has going on both personally and professionally.

Her awful singing always makes me laugh on the A Chorus Line recording
Awwwww...there might not be anything remarkable about her singing in the context of the Broadway stage, but she has at least a serviceable voice? I wouldn't say I laugh hearing her voice the way I do when I hear Daphne Rubin-Vega sing (acknowledging that of course as grating as it is, Daphne's voice is a million times more interesting than Charlotte's).
Just re-listening to "Music and the Mirror", those opening lines almost seem autobiographical. "It would be nice to be a star, but I'm not - I'm a dancer".
Wow! You guys are harsh! I’d love to know what leading roles you’ve played on Broadway? If you don’t like her, then just remember what my grandmother used to say: “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”. I’ve enjoyed Her performances in both A Chorus Line and Chicago. I’ve seen lots of Broadway stars and performers but everyone is different. Instead of bashing people celebrate that everyone is different and has different talents to bring to the table.

Easy, fella. Only one person has been harsh. The rest of us have just been honest. No bashing. I saw Charlotte first in CARRIE. I've seen her in almost everything since, except SWEET CHARITY. I even saw her in PARADE in LA (she was great).
She really isn't a singer, though, and a dancer's life is a short one. She isn't likely to be offered many (if any) more roles.
I don't think triple threats truly exist. As I understand it, a triple threat isn't just someone who can merely sing, dance, and act. They have to excel at all at 3 of those arts. I can't think of one.

^^^ I get why you'd say that, and I won't argue the point, except to say I don't agree. Foster is a very good dancer and singer, and she can act the hell out of a song, but I don't think she's a great actress. Bebe Neuwirth is another that comes close (a good but not a great singer, and a bit of a one trick pony as an actor).
A true triple threat is an unattainable goal. Just my opinion.

She's only 55 and still looks great. You keep repeating that as if you're hoping it will come true.

I haven't commented on d'Amboise's looks at all, Uncle Charlie. She looks great for any woman, much less one of 55 - but that isn't what this thread is about.
Believe me, if you think I wish her ill, you are very mistaken. I have done several shows with her. She's talented and sweet, but the nature of showbiz suggests it is likely she won't get another big role. I'd love to be wrong.
She's been smart about her career. She's taken replacement roles. She isn't proud about returning to Chicago to make a buck. Nothing wrong with that, nor is anything wrong with her accepting that she won't be a great dancer forever. She is focusing more on teaching than performing now.
Here she is at Kennedy Center, with her talented brother, honoring their talented father.

I wish I could comment on this but every time I've seen a show she was in an understudy went on in her place. EVERY TIME.

Her attendance in A CHORUS LINE wasn't good. But each time I've gone to see her in CHICAGO, CONTACT and PIPPIN she was always in.

I wasn't trying to imply in any way that you had. Talent in being able to skillfully execute the steps aside, hireability as a dancer is impacted by the person's appearance. They've got to be fit and have the right look, a lot harder to achieve as one grows older. My point in bringing it up is just to say she still looks the part.

Her attendance in ACL was actually very good. Towards the end of the run, she only agreed to extend her contract if she could have Sundays and tuesdays off in order to maximize time with her young daughters, so she could spend saturday nights through wednesday mornings with them. Perhaps that's what you're thinking about, ACL2006?
There were a handful of missed performances because of injuries, but that was true of almost anyone in the cast. Dancing full out with long periods of cooling down is tough on the body. d'Amboise was out less often than Jessica Golden.
and fwiw, it is spelled d'Amboise, not D'Amboise.

Perhaps you'll forgive me for misunderstanding this, Uncle Charlie?

This is simply not true, JBradshaw.

Well, ya busted me on that one, Patti LuPone Fanatic, but if ya wanna get technical, it's Jessica LEE Goldyn, but to be honest, I'm not a fan. She was supposed to be the next big thing after ACL, but while she's doing fine in regionals, she fizzled out after ACL.
I pointed out the misspelling of Charlotte's last name because I would have thought that a fan of Charlotte's would appreciate the correction, which I first did in the subject line without comment.
...and btw, it's ghostlight2, not Ghostlight2. No capital letters and no bolding.

I knew she altered her schedule after a year to only do 6 shows/week. And it was Thursdays & Sundays she took off(looked at an old Playbill). But it seemed like the majority of times I saw the show during its nearly two-year run, I got an understudy for Cassie(typically Nadine Isenegger who was my least favorite).
I've always enjoyed Charlotte as Roxie (she does a great ad-lib part near the end of act 1). If you're a teenager near the front row, she'd pick on you and ask what age you are.
Anyway, I looked up Charlotte's age and she's 55. Her husband is 68. I'd imagine by now she might be thinking of retirement? Working on Broadway can be taxing on both the mind and body. Donna Marie Asbury retired last year at age 56 after being in Chicago for 20 years.

I was going to reply similarly. I worked at the Schoenfeld during the run of A Chorus Line, and her attendance was better than most. She originally didn't want to renew her contract, but they offered her a reduced schedule so she would remain (she wanted to spend more time with her family).

The producers decided not to renew a significant number of the contracts from that initial cast due to attendance. I don't really recall Jessica missing that many performances either, at least not in that intiial year.

I saw her in Chicago a few months ago, and she was fantastic. I saw the show on two different nights with mostly different casts, and Charlotte was my favorite of all the leads. I also love her in the Carrie bootlegs; she seems to understand the gleeful awfulness of Chris more than other a lot of actresses. I'd make the trip to NY to see in her in something new. Hoping it happens!
I’ve never seen so many understudies in my life. Chorus Line and WSS

"Angela Lansbury did that in Mame and that was only 57 years ago. Hugh Jackman did it in Boy From Oz, not so much in TMM, because his voice got a little too nasally when approaching any high notes. Today, Sutton Foster is probably the only triple threat that I can think of.
