I have to agree with the poo poo line from rent. WTF?
"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell

poo-poo means jinx. I agree also about the Charlie Brown line, it's so simple but who really thinks like that? It's so true and really poignant, in a childlike way
Rosencrantz: "Be happy - if you're not even HAPPY what's so good about surviving? We'll be all right. I suppose we just go on."
- from Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
Yes, Carnival. The fact that this naive girl believes these puppets are people...Cheesy? Or just stupid. Love the show, though. I had lots of fun in it.
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive.
"Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot."
"No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one."
Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.
I agree, alot of the lines from Wicked (Confess=Ness, Berries, Melons and Pears oh my!) but overall I loved Wicked's lyrics. They are touching in a kind of simplistic way. And I love RENT to death but for some reason, the way Anthony says "Pookie" during the Tango: Maureen on the soundtrack just makes me cring every time.
I wanted to get something that an "ex"-junkie like him would really appreciate and cherish....it's a brick of heroin shaped like a heart.

Tandem...actually, I used that word over the summer when I went to Wildwood and they had Tandem bicycles.
And "Who says Tandem?"
The same people that say Confucifying, Congratulotations, Disgusticified, etc. Hello! You're in Oz!

Actually, there's so many more, but I can't think of them all right now.

I don't like in the middle of "Johnny Can't Decide" in Tick Tick Boom, when he says "I want to write music." etc etc. I don't know why, but with the emotional music playing in the background, that speak-break is just like syrup to me.
I also don't like the line in "Schadenfreude" when they say "Watching actors never reach the ending of their oscar speech!" I never found that incredibly miserable.
"What More Can I Say" - beautiful song, but some of the lyrics make me not want to like it.
"What Would I Do" - same thing goes with that one.
Finn, is a great musician, but not the best lyricist.
"Looking at Whizzer is like eating Trafe" - The WORST line in the show, only because he has to find something to rhyme with Safe. He is no Sondheim.

Happiness is one of my favorite songs. It's supposed to be sung in a child like manner and that makes it sweet and it fits. I don't think it's awkward at all.
and agree with the Wicked and RENT lyrics that have been mentioned. I adore RENT but some lines do make me wanna cringe.
You're always sorry,
You're always grateful,
You hold her, thinking:
"I'm not alone."
You're still alone.

"Happiness" is definitely a cheese-filled song. Imagine having to sing it with all seriousness on stage in front of people. Yeah. I should have won a f*cking Tony for that.
I actually like WICKED's funky rhyming. I just forgot the name of it; the weird rhyming has a literary name, but I can't remember it!!
Cheesy line that always irked me: "Now life is free and easy, much more philosophy-zy..."
Oh, by the way, what do you mean, "Who says 'tandem'?" It's not like that is an uncommon word! People work "in tandem"; I don't use the phrase every day, but it's definitely not uncommon.

"Trace- I wanna kiss ya" "Then I can't wait for parole!" -Hairspray
Don't know why but that has always irked me.
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
eh, i'll go along with the "poo-poo" line, but what's wrong with the "happy spring" and "i hate the fgall" lines? I like those, I like that they set up what time of the year we're in.
I have to agree with pretty much everything from CATS....but now that damn Jellicle song is stuck in my head!! heeeeeelp!!!!
