""Anyway, my vote goes to...well, anything in "Carousel," but especially the whole of "June Is Bustin' Out All Over.""
Oh God. Facepalm.
Kay: You might want to be careful about wearing that. Steven doesn't like things that are quite so obvious.
Crystal: When Steven doesn't like what I wear, I take it off!

Help! It's been years since I saw HAIRSPRAY, and now I have to design Tracy's jail cell in such a way that the line makes sense:
"They can stop us from kissing, but they can't stop us from singing!"
How exactly are they being stopped from kissing?? The script says they "try" to kiss through the jail bars (and presumably fail). Are the bars really so close together that their LIPS can't touch??
Does anyone remember what this line referred to specifically? I'm fighting a deadline, and haven't been able to find a satisfactory explanation as to how this moment is supposed to work onstage! Updated On: 6/1/11 at 01:20 AM
I adore WICKED and to be honest, I think the simplicity of the lyrics go a whole lot deeper then what most musicals aim for. And I think the way Schwartz used double meaning for alot of the songs ("Defying Gravity" and "For Good") is brilliant. Especially in a show that revolves around looking at things another way.
Speaking of which...that line irks me to no end from WICKED hahaha "Its not lying...its looking at things a different way" I know...its kinda the whole point of the show in a single line but I wish they worded it less...cheesy haha
"Life in theater is give and take...but you need to be ready to give more then you take..."
I have no patience or tolerance for cheesy lines. No matter how good the show is, if there's a cheesey line it drives me insane. Just a strong pet peeve of mine.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
Changing it up a little bit: I love "next to normal" to the point of ridiculousness, but this exchange drives me bananas:
Diana: "I don't even remember marrying this man. It's not like I'm some sexually-frustrated soccer mom!" Dr. Madden: "Interestingly, the underlying challenges are similar. See you next week."
I'm playing The Cat in the Hat right now in Seussical and I'm having the time of my life. I know that the show is meant to be kinda corny and "kiddie" but I have real problems with the delivery of the Cat's first few lines because they are a bit overly corny!
"I can see that you've got quite a mind for your age! Why, one think, and you dragged me right onto the stage! Now I'm here! There's no telling what may ensue with a Cat such as men and a thinker like you!"
^ I feel ya...I was in that show a few years ago and that score/book is littered with cheesiness. However, a word of advice...just have fun with it :) that show was practically made with corniness in mind and if you try to deliver the lines with seriousness...your gonna look like your trying to force it. The Cat is meant to be this out of the world personality who does not take things with a hint of seriousness, so just portray that :)
