While I'm very familiar with Cher's songbook, particularly her post-Sonny years, and am not very interested in her career and haven't followed her, I had a blast at TCS. It moved right along and didn't drag, though I didn't much care the Greg Allman segment in Act 2 -- definitely a weak part of the book -- and there seemed to be a rush to tie things up in the second half of Act 2. Nonetheless it's a feast for the eyes with the costumes -- the "Ain't Nobody's Business..." fashion show was stunning. The countless quick changes are impressive with the intricate costumes. Great sound and lighting. Loved the three Cher's, though agree as I've read a few times the Teal Wicks persona could have been divided into the other two, though she has the best book scenes and lines. And, if watching gorgeous chorus boys and girls is your thing, this has a very good-looking and very talented ensemble.
TCS's recording is available for streaming and I must be driving my neighbors batty replaying the Vegas scene where they mash When the Money's Gone with All or Nothing, and slot machine sound effects mixed in. Yeah, yeah, it's all fun cheesy fluff, but damn I had a gay ol' time and I hope to catch it again if it's still on the boards when I visit in the fall.
Maybe it's a generational thing: When walking around TS I saw alot of groups of teens and millennials wearing The Prom shirts and buttons.
