YES! I've been dying to see a decent production of this.
i think i just died a little.. in a good way.
Now all they need to do is revive it on Broadway.
It's a concert, not a full staging. There have been a couple "decent" concerts in recent years that are available to see.
Was there something in Idina's contract that required her picture to be the only one used in publicizing this event? First BWW, now Playbill. Will she be the only person on the cover of the DVD as well?
I was really hoping for this ever since I saw the flyer for the concert at RAH in March. YAY!

I just hope the sound system is good and that the cast actually rehearses enough so as not to flub their lines. Other than that, woo hoo! I'm looking forward to this.
Well, I hope certain persons' voices hold up for the roles. Or at least I hope the concert will have a good sound engineer to fix the screw ups in real time as much as s/he can.

Do they include "Someone Else's Story" in this version?
This was the best thing I've heard all week. Anyone know anything about a CD recording?
It already happened (and has been filmed), and yes, Someone Else's Story was in it.
You mean held up and had a good sound engineer. The event has already taken place and been filmed. I hope it's also released on DVD.
Ja. I meant in the past. I was thinking more along the lines of what to anticipate on the broadcast.
It's supposed to be, CATS.
Sweeeet.
Thank God we're getting a good taping of that concert: I used to have an audio recording with the worst acoustics you could imagine (you couldn't make out half the lyrics).

I guess you missed the part where her role is the main character

yes it comes out xmas this year i believe. there is someone else's story, which is sung beautifully by Kerry Ellis (Broadway's Newest Elphaba)
but frankly, i saw this in concert and i think u guys are gonna be disappointed. murney and foster do a much better job.
Plus the bad acoustics in Royal Albert Hall didnt help. Hope you guys enjoy it tho.
I am so pleased! I've loved Chess from the release of the original concept album. Flew to London to see it, and have seen it a few times since. I think a concert version is maybe the right forum for it to work at it's best.
yeah chess only seems to work in concert doesnt it?
i think without the over the top costumes, stage lighting and whatever, the content speaks for itself better
This is my absolute favorite musical, so I am thrilled that it will be broadcast!
I think it was a good concert and "certain peoples' vocies" held up just fine, even though I prefer Julia Murney as Florence.
Very excited about this. Woo-hoo!
Going by what was written on some the forums, I am amazed that they are releasing this.
