The only rumor that was floating around was Krakowski. Hopefully they announce it soon.

I remember hearing Lillias White as Mama - is that a rumor or confirmed somewhere?

That has more traction then the Krakowski hearsay. Really surprised nothing has been leaked about their casting at this point.

The rumor of Krakowski as Roxie with DeBose as Velma has appeared elsewhere on this board. I think in the big Chicago appreciation thread.

Didn’t Lillias say herself on some livestream or something that she’d be Mama when it reopened? I think that’s where that rumor comes from.

I really couldn't imagine why she'd want to do it. I love her, and I'd love to see her, but I just wouldn't see the reasoning behind it. Her star is fully on the rise right now, I don't know why she's want to do a stint while getting ready to do press for WSS.

I do know that Wendi McLendon-Covey was supposed to join the Broadway production as Mama Morton for Summer 2020 then Broadway shutdown. Doubt she’ll be on when it returns as she’ll be filming THE GOLDBERGS so maybe Summer 2022?

This. FWIW, she also posted something about being excited for her friends & colleagues who are going back to work in theatre (saying nothing of her own involvement). As much as I'd like to see her in Chicago, I doubt it's a real thing. All this feels like dreamcasting.

 

Though if I had to dreamcast a group of overqualified people who hadn't done the show before.....

I more wish they did something with that pathetic bathroom set up, especially now that the Crowne Plaza lobby toilets aren't open to the public anymore.

I believe they are the UK casting. Broadway has yet to announce their official casting.

ACL, didn’t they just replace the carpeting and seating in the Ambassador less than 5 years ago? Still seems very new to me.
And Erika Jayne better not come anywhere near the Ambassador. I get that sometimes the Me and My Baby choreography has to be simplified for stunt casting but she was barely able to do any of it even though it was dumbed down to almost nothing.

I second the Nina West casting though. And Jane Krakowski’s comedic timing would be perfect for Roxie. Just imagine her Funny Honey rendition lol

I don't think so. My last visit to Chicago was in 2018, and I remember changing seats a few times because several springs kept poking my bottom.

Did that girl who won the Search for Roxie thing ever get to go on? She won and that was the last I heard about it.
