re: Company Commentary Thread#152
Posted: 2/20/08 at 10:54pmI wonder if they will play it again. I missed it. I did see it when it was on Broadway though, but it would be nice to watch it on PBS.
re: Company Commentary Thread#153
Posted: 2/20/08 at 10:54pmI never really understood the big deal about the song forever...then one day on the train into NYC it came on and just clicked.

Sorry, I forgot that raising one's voice equals "non-subtle."
Look at the way she engages the audience. Look at Raul and Bruce's faces watching her.
re: Company Commentary Thread#155
Posted: 2/20/08 at 10:57pmI love the subtle touch of closing the piano.
re: Company Commentary Thread#156
Posted: 2/20/08 at 10:58pmWhenever I hear that song, I am still reminded of CAMP. I just can't shake it, lol
re: Company Commentary Thread#157
Posted: 2/20/08 at 10:59pmSome lovely shots of the piano at the end...

Wanna Be A Foster (aka 'Nimrod', per Stacey) --
LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER's THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA was directed by Kirk Browning, who is basically the house director for LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER having directed 185 of their broadcasts, starting in 1976.
Lonny Price needs to give him a refresher master class.

Posted: 2/20/08 at 11:05pmGood for him, Brody. But the taping of PIAZZA pales in comparison to this taping of COMPANY.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

Posted: 2/20/08 at 11:08pmI am so mad right now! I am hearing all these good things about company and I have to wait until the 23! ughhh!
re: Company Commentary Thread#165
Posted: 2/20/08 at 11:08pmWell, LITP was filmed live, so their editing was probably (just going on a whim here) to do because whoever was editing couldn't decide and make choices as to what should be on screen. Also, Company was filmed over the span of two performances so there was (just assuming again) more footage to work with.
re: Company Commentary Thread#166
Posted: 2/20/08 at 11:12pmThis was filmed so gorgeously... then you have the awkward shot of his feet.
re: Company Commentary Thread#169
Posted: 2/20/08 at 11:13pmyeah feet = weird but beautiful absolutely beautiful.

re: Company Commentary Thread#171
Posted: 2/20/08 at 11:14pmThat was wonderfully filmed, but the shot of his feet threw it off. It was like The Wizard of Oz.
re: Company Commentary Thread#172
Posted: 2/20/08 at 11:14pmI loved how the camera just...stayed on his face while everyone else is talking....
re: Company Commentary Thread#173

Stunning. What a masterpiece.
Yeah, I didn't like the shot of his feet the first time, either. A bit awkward, but I see where they were going.
