Hey all! I was just wondering, I know all of us just LOVE Broadway and musicals in general, but I was just wondering how many of you actually write musicals. I'm just finishing my first (good) musical, and I'm starting a opera. Anyone else?

I write musicals too - well, actually, I am writing one musical at the moment (together with Practically Perfect) - its good fun, but can be hard work when you're having writer's block... which, with me, is, like, all the time... X
I got you. Yeah, I got you on camera - you on candid camera now... An' you ain't know that...
I wrote a musical. I have the script on-line when i find the link I'll post it. The music isn't with it because I'm not done with it, and the script is still also very rough.
Um, I wrote a play. A little one Act but I'm still just 16, it's good. Still need to get it put up somewhere.

6. "Pass the parcel. That's sometimes all you can do. Take it, feel it and pass it on. Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day. Pass it on, boys. That's the game I want you to learn. Pass it on." -The History Boys
Ok so the musical is 'Jane' and yes it REALLY is a true story. Some of the music is in there but it is VERY early versions. I would love some feedback. I have also submitted a straight play version to a few contests and won some prizes, sorry for the brag.
My best friend(Who is not aloud on message boards) is a composer. He wrote his first musical last year, and early this year it was workshoped at our highschool. The music is AMAZING, the book is really melodramatic, but still very clever, but it was his first attmept. He writes mini musicals and plays all the time, and I have no doubt that his musicals will be on Broadwa, touring, and Eruope. He really is a musical genious. I wish he was aloud on message boards then he could actually tell you all what it's about and stuff.

Nick- Seriously? That's so cool. The most I do is write 5-10 measures on the piano and then get distracted. HaHa. Okay, I haven't seen you in ages. You, Kerry and I should all hang out at some point.
I have written two musicals: GOING TO POT: THE REEFER MADNESS MUSICAL (which, incidentally, was written before that "other" one) and ZORRO THE FOX, which has not yet been produced. My third show is in progress.
nodaybutoday-He's not allowed because his mother 1. doesn't like him on the internet because he can look up porn. 2. Is not allowed to go on the internet message boards because he might give the computer a virus. 3. She doesn't think message boards are safe. You never know i<3idina may be a 40 year old pervert looking to pray on young talented boys.

Yeah, I wrote a tiny musical called RENT - yeah right, i wish. Anyways, I have a few straight plays and a musical i'm working on. I don't really "write" music. Like I know the melodies of the songs and the lyrics, but I don't really know how to compose music too well. I'm taking classes lol. I'd share the idea and name, just don't want people to "gank" it from me. Hopefully you'll see me on Broadway sometime, as an actor, writer, director. Has there ever been anyone to have a striaght play and musical playing on Broadway at the same time? That's my goal.
