I saw Constantine in Rent and he was amazing. "Youreyes" blew me away! I have followed his career since then and even have met him once or twice. He is the sweetest guy ever. I know he will knock it out of the park in "The Wedding Singer". I am so excited!!
I'm gonna have to go by the official source here. Playbill says no specific role was mentioned and that he MAY join it. That he was in negotiations. Maybe he will just be an ensemble member, although I doubt that the producers would hire someone who used to be on AI to be in the ensemble.

I love each of the actors so much in their role....but if it's between the show closing and Constantine being in it, I'll take the latter. Hopefully he'll help the show make money.
"At least it may give this show a chance to stay open!"
You think? The second I read that, I saw it as the downfall for sure."
the thing is, had this been right after idol season 4, it would have been the BEST decision the producers could have made. Seriously, constantine had a CRAZY large fanbase after idol (I was part of it, for the record). However, to be honest I think that in the past year people's obsession with him has kind of really REALLY toned down, to the point where people who really used to like him are now getting annoyed with him.So.. unfortunately, I see it as a downfall too. Because he's NOT going to bring that many people I think, and from the sounds of this thread a lot of people are going to be turned OFF by him. So yeah. I only wish he was as popular as he was right after idol. That would have been amazing.
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
Constantine is phenomenal on stage. His Roger was absolutely amazing and is still one of my very favorite performances ever, even after many many Broadway shows. Yes, he was that incredible.
you know what? I'm not gonna lie. I may have heard some of Con's RENT songs, namely one song glory, another day, and your eyes. And I actually LOVED it. It happened to have been the way I was introduced to those songs in RENT. Honestly, to me he seemed totally on pitch, sang with a lot of emotion, and was, altogether, quite good. I mean his voice was definitely NOT as strong as adam's by any means, but it was good. Granted this was my opinion back in my Con obsession days, but I'm actually gonna go listen to them again right now, having now become accostom to the RENT obc.. and see what I think. I have a feeling I'm still gonna think he isn't half bad! haha. Really, I STILL like his voice. And I really still DO think he is a fantastic performer (just watch his Bohemian Rhapsody.. I'd be surprised to hear anyone beg to differ after seeing it haha).
honestly, my main concern isn't how he'll be in it, as I think he could def pull off the part- its more that SO many people seem to NOT like him now. I'm praying its just the people on these boards and stuff, and that he still DOES have a bigger fanbase than I'm thinking he does at this point. If he DOES still have the kind of fanbase he used to, YAY that cause it'll bring in lots of tickets!
edit: yeah, I STILL like him in RENT, I'm not gonna lie :)

Guys, guys... stop worrying. He's replacing Felicia. And only because they're testing the waters before they greenlight him in the title role of Zoolander: The Musical.
I am looking forward to coming to NY to see Constantine in this show if he, indeed, does make a deal to perform in it.
He was wonderful as Roger in the touring company of Rent. Loved his One Song Glory. His take on Roger was different and interesting.
I also wish he would have been more aggressively trying to get a Broadway show sooner, but I still think he has a lot of fans out there that are just waiting for him to be on the stage again.
You know, I wanted to join in beacause everyone seems to forget who comes to the shows these days on Broadway. Middle America.....average Americans who want to enjoy a show and come to the city and continue to fuel its economy. American Idol is watched by 30 some million people. No, it's not snob...but it sells. And Broadway, last time I checked...SELLS WELL. So before everyone starts knocking a show for coming in and bringing someone who can attract these people and spend their $$$,let's give the kid a chance. It might just be their money that will help you fund one of your shows later. Or better yet, pay your pay check. He might have crazy fans (watch out for that Babyfishmouth one, a notorious crazy stalker in good ole Texas) but he also has NORMAL fans, and people who might be curous to check it out.
Give him a chance, I think he could do a great job, HELL it's not like he's doing Shakespeare!
^haha, oh it WOULD be sold out.. I'd be ALL for idina doing Julia, exept she's maybe just a liiitttle bit too old for the role. She looks AWESOME for her age, its just.. she looks slightly too mature I think.
plus there's the little detail of her being London currently :P haha

Sort of a threadjack but on the first page, someone said:
"Maybe he's replacing Richard H. Blake. Isn't Blake leaving soon anyway to do Legally Blonde?"
I was going to write to him so I checked fanmail.biz and according to that, you can send him mail to the Al Hirschfeld theatre until Nov 05 2006. I suppoose that means he is leaving then...

Ok, that's hysterical!!!
And honestly, he has about as many die-hard fans as he has die-hard detractors. Either of which is not enough to fill a theater. So the only thing this is going to do is introduce a bunch of squeeing fanfraus who cannot keep their excitement to themselves when he enters a room to musical theater. Oh, and those of us who don't like him might lob a few pairs of thong panties with his picture on them up on stage. Other than that, musical theater at its best, guaranteed.
"Can you imagine him giving th audience that scowl he gave the camera after every song. "...forgotten grave! ::scwols::" "the one that you want is right in front of your eyes ::turns from holly to look at the audience and scwols::" I'd leave "
First of all Constantine is not just some cast away American Idol contestant. He has a musical theater degree from Boston Conservatory and has had experience on Broadway. He had the lead role in the Traveling Broadway Production of Rent. He has also had many lead roles in other theater productions as well...for example Hedwig and Jesus Christ Superstar. I'm positive he will be amazing give the guy a chance for God's sake.
