Constantine Maroulis to Join Wedding Singer

They just announced on TRL (I know - that a very reliable news source) that Constantine Maroulis from American Idol will be joining the Wedding Singer. Who know? I thought Julia would be the role stunt casted.

They never said what part he would play, but I would assume it be Robbie Hart. Can't see him as Glenn or George at all. Or Sammy.

wait, seriously? it CANT be for robbie... Stephen's contract isn't up till like, next year sometime! And as the show *sniff* prob wont be open till then, I cant see how thats possible.. is he just maybe like.. joining the ensemble or something? I actually really like constantine (yes, I too get annoyed with his *look at me* attitude, but I think he's an awesome performer and I really like his voice! haha), but no. Just... I love stephen way more. So that cant be happening. haha.

I still mantain that if they're gonna stunt cast they should do it for Julia and get Mandy Moore. Or, you know, someone like her who can actually sing and all

It seems dumb and pointless anyways, they should have stunt casted Julia, that makes the most logical sense, since the person normally playing her is away on medical leave. Oh well, I doubt he's going to boost the ticket sales.

First of all, stunt casting has nothing to do with the contracts - they can stunt cast in the middle of a person's contract. As Rentboy says in the post below mine, it can be written into the contract. They did it to Matt Caplan twice during his 8 billion year run during Rent. He was under contract while Joey Fatone joined the cast, and when Drew Lachey joined.

Secondly, I seriously, seriously doubt he is being brought in as a stunt casting for Robbie. I would put money on him being the new Sammy.

still though, I cant imagine they'd stunt cast over stephen, I mean thats silly, cause stephen's a liittle bit of stunt casting himself! haha, i mean he's def bringing in people who prob wouldn't ordinarilly come to the theater.

As for Con being Sammy, if thats the case.. hmm.. I'll be interested to see how that goes.. :)

man do i hope it is! and it deff cant be for robbie. theres way too many ppl that come to the show to see stephen lynch. im hoping its just ensemble, but im hoping even more that this is all a JOKE!!
