Could Connick take the TONY?

Lot's of fighting between Young and Cerveris Fans
(I Like Cerveris)
But My Friends and TONY voters seem to Love HARRY!
Could he snatch it?

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

It wouldn't surprise me, not at all. I believe the race should be between Michael Cerveris and John Lloyd Young, but I wouldn't rule out Harry.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

I think at this point, Harry's a close second runner-up, I think. Which is great, there's some real competition here and it's exciting.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

I don't think he'll win at all.

I think JLY will win, closely followed by Michael Cerveris.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

I don't think he'll win, I was just saying it wouldn't surprise me.

And I pick the opposite as munk.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

If Connick is a serious contender, perhaps the Tony voters will split the votes between Cerevis and Young, allowing Connick to slip in and win.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

I am hoping for Connick to take the Tony. I'd love to see him win!

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

We have to remember that we're talkin' Best ACTOR in a Musical, not Best SINGER in a Musical. So Connick has no chance, because he's just a great singer who is a so-so actor. The best chances are that either Cerveris or John Lloyd Young will win. Stephen Lynch, however, has the least chances.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

no, people who weren't NOMINATED have the least chance.

and that makes me sad.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

I haven't seen The Wedding Singer (or heard more than clips) but I do like Stephen Lynch a lot (I've liked his comedy for years). I think someone who is making his Broadway debut like this - when Michael Ball was an option and NOT given the nomination, should TRULY feel it's an honor to be nominated.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

I *hope* Harry wins, but... we'll see re: Could Connick take the TONY?

His chances are pretty good, really, IMO. The show has been popular and he IS very good in the role.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

I would love to see either Connick or Cerveris win the Tony this year...sadly, I have a feeling it is going to JLY (who does not deserve it IMO). At least I'm prepared for the letdown.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

Actually, to be specific, the cateogry is "Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical." BEST PERFORMANCE - not best actor. It is certainly possible that many people this year thought Connick gave a surprisingly good "performance" in THE PAJAMA GAME.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

John Lloyd Young is going to win. Harry may be hunky but all those steroids make his acting very wooden

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

Harry Connick Jr. is absolutely not on steroids.

JLY more than deserves it.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

Well, I've seen both Sweeney Todd & Jersey Boys and I'd have to say JLY should definitly win. Sweeney is the better show, but JLY gives the better performance. He IS Frankie Valli.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

Connick will definitely win the Tony because the voters want to encourage him to remain on Broadway. By stroking his ego with a Tony, they are saying to him, "We want you to stay around".
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

Connick is a dark horse - he'll definitley get some votes, as will Bob Martin. However, I don't think either of them will win - but by taking votes the scales could tip back and forth for the two favorites (Cerveris and Young).

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

The award should not be given out for the reason of "we want you to stay around." It should be given to the person who delivers the best performance.

re: Could Connick take the TONY?

It is such a talented bunch of men this season.
I loved each and every one of them. But my three favorites are:
1. John
2. Bob Martin
3. Cerveris
All three give the performance of a lifetime and I love them all.
If I had to pick one, it would be JLY. Harry is a sexy g-d, but compared to Brent Barrett he did not impress me. The Encores production of the Pajama Game was much stronger than the Roundabout production. I only wish they used Barrett. He might not have Harry's pecks, but he has a much stronger voice and is a better actor. Just my two cents.
