It’s also up on Spotify.
Will be listening to “A Stranger” on repeat a lot today, I suspect.

Thrilled to see this so soon. Would’ve loved to see Shot a Man in Kansas in this as well but glad we got something.

Any news on when the rest of it will arrive? I really hate the new trend of cast recordings coming out in dribs and drabs.

Looks like the entire musical will be released on Audible October 2.

Actually, now that I look at the tracklist, this is the same set of songs they performed at their press/launch concert event last month.

Having just seen the show Wednesday afternoon, I was rarin' to listen. I think "Normal" is classic Yazbek, and wonderful. "Something from Nothing" is infectious, with an almost Pete Townshend vibe.

They intend to postpone this release if the show is still running on Broadway (for obvious reasons).

Ballad, Normal, Up to the Stars and especially A Stranger are all on repeat today. It feels like I waited an eternity to hear these again.

Loving this so far! This is unlike anything Yazbek has ever written.
When this ran downtown, one critic said that the opening ballad may as well be called “Oh, What a Beautiful Evenin’.” With its simple melody, slight twang, and praise for the natural world, who am I to disagree?
“Dead” might be one of the earworms of the season (that guitar riff is irresistible!), and “Up to the Stars” has the makings of a cabaret favorite.

This is fantastic! The Best Score of the season. Operation Mincemeat has an infectious one too! -- some good scores this season.

I waited and waited for this and maybe it's me, but these tracks lack a certain spark, a certain grit to my ear. Maybe that energy can only be captured in a live performance. Guess I'll have to go, again. Poor me.

Has anyone heard an update on Part 2 of the cast recording?

Not a word. Really baffling.

The full version is only available only on audible and came out July 17, looks like they had a deal for the rights of the full album based on what I read, so who knows when it will come out on the other streamers.

I don’t understand why they have such a deal.
It’s not like Audible is the sole producer of this show. In hindsight I don’t see this show benefits much from the Audible release. It actually may have hurt the show more than it helps.

David Yazbek did mention on his IG when the Audible recording was announced that a separate full cast recording was also forthcoming --- holding out hope that's still the case

Cast album is being released tomorrow! I love the Audible recording but I'm also looking forward to easily skipping from song to song now, or just listening to "Nobody Knows Your Name" on repeat.

It's a great album and I'm so glad we now have the score to revisit (though "Blowin' it Up" comes across a bit of a skip track, but the only one for me). I hope this allows the show to find a broader audience than it did on Broadway.

If there was a music category of "Bops About Death," this show would corner the market. Most of them were already in part 1 of the album, but glad to add Somethin' Bout a Mummy to the list

On a long drive I took a couple weeks ago, I played the Audible recording for my best friend who doesn't really like musicals. He agreed to listen on the condition that he had the right to skip over any songs he didn't like. Overall, he really liked the show, but he skipped two songs, and this was one of them. I couldn't really argue with him.
