That stinks!! I'm sorry that happened!
does anyone know when DEH will reinstate its digital lottery?
Same question as above. It says "Lottery closed. Check back in January." It's January 3rd today and it's closed. Anybody have any inside word? Thx.

Any idea when they stopped doing the lottery? Was this just for the holidays? If the lottery doesn't come back- what's the best way to get decent seats to this show and not pay full price?

School of rock reopened today at like noon and I still lost. Was hoping dear evan Hansen would could back today also
it might be like beautiful they had an online lottery for like a week and it never came back.

I mean it's coming back I'm just not sure when. They stopped it for the holidays. I imagine soon it'll come back though because it does say it'll reopen in January.

They're apparently selling well after the rave reviews, according to the box office. I'm thinking they're being greedy which may turn off a lot of people. They should beware not to piss off their core audience. Also, they performed on the Today Show yesterday so they may want to see if they'll sell more after that.

No, their core audience is those buying full price tickets, not the 20 (or whatever the number is) of the people who win the lottery. You don't have them over a barrel, they owe you nothing.
I just wish they'd been more transparent about what was happening with the lotto. They had to know that taking something away gets noticed, especially on social media, and especially when their social media team is telling people in the new year about lotto when the lotto hasn't returned at all in 2017.
Greedy?!? Uhm... Broadway is still a business and they still need to recoup the money back to investors.
The Music Box theater only has a capacity of 1000 seats (compared to 1400 for Hamilton) and thus setting aside seats for lottery may be harder.
From my experience with the DEH box office with standing room, I think they're more understanding and humane compared to Hamilton or Book of Mormon since DEH sells SRO when the box office opens. It gives the theater goer time to relax and see the city during the day rather than wait in line all day. For Book of Mormon when I did SRO, they sold the tix at 5pm and we all know Hamilton sells SRO only if ta available and only at 5 mins before showtime.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the lottery was only available week nights (excl. Friday)

In their defense, they don't exactly have a lot of tickets to sell. And if my math is correct, they should be inviting Tony voters at this point, so that is 750+ people they are trying to get through the door (though some may not come until the spring road conference in May).
Basic rule of business. Why sell something at a discount that you can sell for full price?

Lol, Tony voters don't see the show until it has garnered any Tony nominations. The people who should have already seen it around press/opening night are the Tony Committee comprised of 25+ people only.
EDIT: actually 51* nominating committee members this season

No, the show has to invite all voters (as well as nominators and admin committee) within 16 weeks of opening.

They may (and probably will) have a second session of tony voters in after nominations. Many of the non-limited engagements do.
Either way, the point stands that they don't have much inventory at the moment to sell.
