YAY MATILDA! Glad its getting to shine tonight! Much deserved!
@WiCkEDrOcKS I agree... or adding a category specifically for plays.
Leading Actor & Actress in a Musical are such exciting races.
I honestly thought Murphy would take that from Osnes, so the Miller/Osnes race heats up!
And it's a shame Carvel will win over Porter, when he is so tragically misplaced in the category. Both men deserve to be rewarded.
Every year the Drama Desks nominate a musical (or two) multiple times, so many times that, in fact, they get the most nominations. And every year, they lose every one of them.
This year it was GIANT and HANDS ON A HARDBODY.
"And it's a shame Carvel will win over Porter."
Don't count your eggs.
Man, the Tonys are still such a big question mark after tonight. Matilda and Pippin predictably did well. I almost thought Here Lies Love was going to take top honors by the end...I've got to see that show!
This year's Tony Awards are sure to shake things up because of all the uncertainty in what were/could have been predictable. But I like that... :) It makes it more interesting and makes me eager to watch!

I could see MATILDA only winning Best Musical, Book and Scenic Design, and potentially Best Actor.

Best musical on or off broadway in years.
I am thrilled Cinderella picked up 3 and is a solid contender for the same three at the Tony Awards.

I just saw Osnes today in 'Cinderella' and she gave one of the loviest performances I have ever seen. Then I saw her acceptance speech on live stream and jumped for joy. I was so happy for her.
ETA: I`m also really happy about the show`s wins for Costume Design and Orchestratians!

Play Esq., and I'm Filipino, so it feels so nice to have a show about my culture that people are responding to.
^ then you MUST see this show! You'll appreciate the history-laced lyrics more as a result of your background. In either event, it's BRILLIANT!
If only there were cheaper ways to see it...I may have to splurge!
Or pray for an extension....that baby is sold out last I checked. Keep your eyes open, obstructed view 30 tickets have shown up.
But if ever there was a production to splurge for...it is this!

Is there any particular reason that Patina wasn't nominated?
Is the Drama Desk stream anyplace online to view?
It might be at the same link as the live stream but as a playback video, of course.
Obstructed for $89? Is it worth it? Oof!
Visceral, the nominating committee found other performances more worthy of nomination.

Oh okay, I thought it might have had something to do with her absences.
Absences? Wasn't she out for like...3 or 4 performances because of an illness? I wasn't aware it was an epidemic.

Her absences also came after the nominations had already been announced.
You won't have to pray especially hard for an extension for Here Lies Love.
