Today is Thursday, April 29, marking the official opening of Everyday Rapture, moving from Off to on Broadway at the American Airlines. It's officially the final show of the 2009-10 Broadway season. Previews began April 19. Roundabout Theatre Company opted to provide a home to Everyday Rapture to replace the never-was production of Lips Together, Teeth Apart. The limited engagement is scheduled through July 11 and is Roundabout's final show of the 2009-10 season.
Tony winner Michael Mayer directed Everyday Rapture in 2009, and returns to stage the Broadway incarnation - Starring the wonderfully talented SHerie Rene Scott.
The score is the epitome of variety, featuring numbers written by Fred Rogers (of "Mister Rogers Neighborhood"), Tim Rice & Elton John, David Byrne, Harry Nilsson, Harold Arlen & Ted Koehler, Charles Fox & Norman Gimbel, Johnny Mercer & Harry Warren, Gabriel Alexander Roth, Tom Waits, David Byrne and more.
The show is characterized by Roundabout as "a young woman's psycho-sexual-spiritual journey on the rocky path that separates her mostly Mennonite past from her mostly Manhattan future." The show has been developed in benefits, concerts and rehearsals since 2006; at one time it was called You May Now Worship Me.
Best to all involved!
I'll be seeing this one in July!

We know the Times will be a rave...I wonder how the rest of the reviews will be.
Got the cast recording in the mail yesterday by the way...Sherie sounds great on it.

Can't wait to read the reviews. I cannot wait to see this show--the cast recording, IMHO, is superbly done.
I have seen it, and can't wait to forget all about it. LOL!
Nah, I didn't hate it, just don't think any "one person" show belongs on Broadway.
BOTH David Byrne's? What a treat! Seriously, I love Harry Nilsson and I wonder what songs from his catalogue are selected.
" just don't think any "one person" show belongs on Broadway."
Oh dear god.
I'm ok with one person shows being on Broadway, I just didn't like this one.
muscle23ftl, your posts on this board are extremely embarrassing. For you, that is.
Muscle, honey, so does the fact that you don't like one person shows on Broadway, make you a racist?
Nice to see the vapid/shallowness has started early today

muscle clearly doesn't like the show because Sherie is a former Mennonite and it's a one-WOMAN show.
Hes a sexist and a bigot!

If it were a Brooke Shields one-woman show, he'd go.
And don't forget Sherri is blonde, so he hates blonde women too
Break a leg to Sherie, Eamon, Betsy and Lindsay!!
I've had the cast recording on repeat since I got it on Tuesday.
Haha, this thread is off to a nice start.
Here's to wonderful reviews for the last show of the season! Let's end on a high note!
I'm seeing the show Saturday night and can't wait. Cheers to all!

It's not muscle's fault he has no taste.
Break legs, Sherie & everyone else! I love this show and can't wait to see it again! Here's to the raves this show deserves!
I hope she gets the accolades she deserves for this.
I actually feel bad for Muscle at this point. Some of the best and most memorable evenings I've ever had at the theatre were one person shows.
Go try and tell Elaine Stritch that her show doesn't belong on Broadway and then I dare you to rip her Tony (and Emmy) from her hands.
I remember Elaine Stritch presented the Tony for Best Book the year she won for At Liberty and she opened the envelope (or booklet or whatever that thing is) and announced, "And the Tony goes to... Elaine Stritch At Liberty." I laughed so hard when I watched it live and rewound it so many times. One of my favorite moments of the Tony Awards in the last ten years, even if it was only broadcast on PBS. However, I personally wouldn't have minded if her show won Best Book that year. It was very well structured and all kinds of entertaining. You better believe that show is Broadway material.

It was great, and not a word of truth in the entire thing. lol
Precisely. All for the sake of entertainment.

Frank Scheck at The Hollywood Reporter is MIXED
"But though it will certainly boost this talented performer's profile, not to mention giving her a good shot at winning a Tony, the new incarnation doesn't necessarily do her show any favors."
