She's now a lock for Best Actress. Hope she wins.
Show happy for Sherrie and all involved!

I do think there's one thing missing in these positive reviews and that's, "P.S. Kristin, it's over."

She's great in the show, but I don't think she should win, maybe not even be nominated, for Best ACTRESS in a Musical. She's playing herself and telling her own story. How is that acting?
But congrats on the fantastic reviews!!
She's playing "Sherie Rene Scott". Not exactly herself.
I was squealing like a little school girl while reading Brantley's review.
I AM SO HAPPY!
MOVE OVER, CHENOWETH... BRANTLEY’S GOT A NEW FAVORITE BLONDIE!!!

First of all, the category is called Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical. Haven't seen the show yet, but I bet what she is doing on that stage is a performance, and she is the leading actress of Everyday Rapture. Surely she meets the requirements to be nominated in the category.
Secondly, if you don't think telling your own story in an extravagant, musical way to fill a Broadway house doesn't require acting, I think you should really examine what is required of her to perform a show like that successfully. Could you go onstage right now and tell your life story in an engaging way, complete with exaggerated anecdotes and seemingly random songs? All kinds of performing has acting in it, whether it's dance, music, figure skating, what have you. I may be in the minority, but I applauded Michael Cavenaugh's Tony nomination for Movin' Out. Why? Without his passion and emotion in his singing and playing, the show would have fallen flat. Every time I hear the cast recording (which was recorded live), I am so drawn into the stories he's telling through the lyrics. Acting comes in all shapes and sizes.
And anyway, she's playing a character named Sherie Rene Scott. It's semi-her, semi-not. Like when Neil Patrick Harris played Neil Patrick Harris in the Harold and Kumar movies.
Very happy to see these reviews, especially Mr. Brantley's. Here's to shaking up a few categories come Tuesday morning!

Just watched the Word of Mouth reviews. It seems the guy was able to enjoy the show more because he wasn't disappointed that it was not "flashier" and he got into the content. The women seemed to be looking for more to be going on and might not have been paying as close attention because they were waiting for "more" visually. Especially that one girl. Does that make sense?
I find it a bit interesting that both Tom Kitt and Michael Mayer worked on 'American Idiot' and 'Everyday Rapture' this season. For 'Idiot' I just sorta shrugged at the whole thing. It's not something I'd see again. I feel the exact opposite with 'Rapture'. It definitely deserves the great reviews tonight.

I find it interesting too, since I found American Idiot to be immediately involving and, while I found Everyday Rapture mildly amusing, it did not stick with me at all once I left the theater.
I also agree with the poster above that said Sherie is not a lock for the win. It is a pretty quiet year as far as lead actresses are concerned, though, so anything's possible.

Seems like Entertainment Weekly's giving everything a B+ these days.
I'd like to add BRIDGE & TUNNEL to the one-person show list. Loved it.
Now I'm torn....coming down in two weeks and "The Kid" is a definite, "Sondheim" possibly a revisit...wonder if I should add this to the shortlist as well....
Can people stop saying that those who don't like the show didn't like it because it wasn't "big" or "flashy"? It seems that that's a frequent charge when people don't like a show like this. You know, small and un-flashy doesn't mean it's good either? Some people have legitimate gripes with this show.

Normally I would agree with you, but in the case of Word of Mouth, that is exactly what at least one of them said, almost verbatim. They wanted it to be bigger and flashier.
Congratulations to Sherie Renee Scott, the cast and crew of EVERYDAY RAPTURE on the positive response the show has received. The Tony race just got even more interesting.
3 out of 4 stars from the NY Post.
Mostly great Scott brings 'Rapture' to the world
I am with adamgreer, my post was based on what was said on Word of Mouth.

Can anyone tell me the story of the crazy youtube fan? I won't get a chance to actually see the show. and I was just curious. I read that it was based on a real incident, though it didn't go into much detail about exactly what happened.

Also...
Why not have a concert version of "The Last 5 Years"
with Sherie and Norbert?
Personally I would love that....
Only recently I 'discovered' The Last 5 Years and have really enjoyed it - giving it several listens. I was thinking that having Sherie & Norbert reunite to perform this would be stellar for an Actors' Fund benefit or the like.
