The audition notices say that Princess Fiona and Faarquard are already cast.
Anyone know who?
SHREK?? Really?
Hmmm...
Well, hopefully John Lithgow!
Sutton, really? Woohoo.
Doug Wright isn't writing the book for this one too, is he?
Thank God Jason Moore is directing it.

David Lindsey-Abaire is book AND lyrics, which is interesting to me.
And Jeanine Tesori is handling the music.
Could it be Celia Keenan-Bolger and Christopher Sieber? They did do the workshop earlier this year.
Wow.
Lindsay-Abaire, Tesori.
Theatre people. NOT Disney people.
This is wonderful.
Christopher Sieber as Faarquard would be brilliant casting.

Why oh WHY are they doing this? Are there no good original ideas left?
Sigh.

Most (if not all) of the cast from the last workshop will be doing the out of town Seattle tryout.Celia was in the workshop because Sutton was in Seattle with Young Frankenstein. Sutton did the most recent workshop. Sieber is Farquad.

I think it's a good idea.
They open fall 2008, no?

"Theatre people. NOT Disney people."
That's because Shrek isn't Disney
But a big yay to any new Tesori score, even if it's Shrek.
Ahh, I didn't even realize that!
More good news!

I know John Tartaglia was involved - I can only hope he's Farquaad cause that would be amazing.

Tartaglia as Pinocchio! That is hilarious!

Question, would they be performing only the first movie, the first two, or all of them? I know many people would be depressed if Puss in Boots was not infact involved. It would be interesting if both movies were combined to create one fluent story.
Yes, and the fairy god mother would also be quite an addition... lets hope they leave out the horrible third movie!

Is there a demo for this anywhere? Anyone know what the score is sounding like?
Jeff
I thought this had all been scrapped...besides, I reckon 'Shrek 2' would be a better adaptation for the stage.

Yes, we can determine that just because this musical will be based on a movie, it will totally be a dud show. When did you see it?
I love O'Keefe & Benjamin's songs that they wrote for this. Considering they weren't chosen for the project I'm very very interested and excited to hear the real score.

Where did you here their demos? What were they like? I'm very curious.

I'd love to get demos of it! But no, alas, all we have are videos of some of the performances at Birdland in October.
