With all due respect to O'Keefe & Benjamin, as I do enjoy some of their work, Jeanine Tesori basically has an A+ record for every score she has written. And they each have completely unique sounds (MILLIE and CAROLINE couldn't be any more different). I think she will really be able to put her ear to this story and create something special.
Foster, do you have the "Violet" cast recording? I freakin' love it!
To be honest though, neither Tesori (though she's closer) or Benjamin/O'Keefe have had enough full scores produced for me to not have a small hint of doubt when I hear about a new project. Just sayin'.
I heard a few of the songs from VIOLET about five years ago when I first got into MILLIE, and I remember thinking how vastly different, yet completely gorgeous it was. I really should pick up the CD.
I'm not 100% sure so I don't want to start any rumors but I heard that Haven Burton will be playing the gingerbread man.
I adore "Violet." Had to throw that in there.

I automatically assumed Sieber was continuing on, since he did Farquaad in the workshops.
I'm glad he will have his well-deserved shot at originating a role again.
I actually think Tesori can make this work. She is a wonderful composer with great range. I too adore Violet, as well as Millie and Caroline.
Can we sing Kumbaya now
When are the auditions for the ensemble? I want to be in this.
Who knows? It's supposed to open at the Palace next fall, so soon?
While I really enjoy alot of Larry O'Keefe's work, am I the only one who thought both of those songs were completely inane and stupid?
Andy Karl being awfully flat during the ballad may have hurt that one more, but I didn't enjoy either.
I am still skeptical about this working on stage, but with the talent involved, I am excited to see what comes of it.

The songs on YouTube sounded so interesting, though i'm not quite so sure that Donkey's song would have fit into the story so well.
This creative team are all modern-minded theatre people. No nonsense. No opera/circus B.S.
If any team can make it work, this is the one.
I can safely say that Jeanine Tesori is currently the resident queen composer of American Musical Theatre. Her writing is nothing short of brilliant, and in my opinion she is the most talented young composer currently working. I have met her intemately, and she is such an amazing person to be around. Please somebody, get this woman a Tony Award. I still cant believe she didnt win for Caroline or Change, or for Millie.
Apparently they are casting Shrek now, according to Playbill. Does that mean Legally Blonde is closing soon?
Was there ever an official announcement saying that "Shrek" was going to be at the Palace?
It's about as common knowledge as the Cry Baby/Marquis was.
Somethingwicked, are you high? Andy Karl broke alot of hearts singing that song and was anything but "flat". "The" site probably shouldn't be linked on this board, just sayin'.
Seriously, who cares at this point in time? As much as I love Chris Seiber, I'm not exactly thinking of running to see Shrek the musical but maybe that's just me. I've also never heard Shrek going into the Palace.

It's not just you Rup, I can't think of anything less enticing than Sutton Foster (whom I generally like) playing Fiona in Shrek with songs by the maudlin Tesori. Somethingwicked, IN.MY. OPINION. you're having hearing problems with regards to Andy Karl on the forbidden site.
I hope they cast Jennifer Simard. She is perfect for this!!!!
I would love to see Fiona as Simard. Sutton is already in a hit!
PS The thought of Wright, Abaire and Tesori working together gives me chills. (Three of my favorite people on one show)
My dream cast:
Jennifer Simard- Fiona
Marylouise Burke(She has a unique voice. I would love to see her written in to this show. She is funny!)
Norbert Leo Butz- Shrek
Norm Lewis- Donkey

I have not heard anything about Shrek taking the Palace.
Well, how is it common knowledge, then? Yeah, there's rumors, but I highly doubt "Legally Blonde" is closing anytime soon.
Common knowledge doesn't mean fangirls, TWS.
