Why are you getting so defensive? People are just asking questions.
You originally said about that it is about as common knowledge as it is Cry Baby/Marquis. "Legally Blonde" isn't doing poorly enough to close. Look at the numbers.
I know that common knowledge doesn't mean fangirls. Yeah, there are thousands of fangirls that would scream if "Legally Blonde" would close, but I'm not one of them (I'm a male). There are rumors about "Shrek" going to the Palace, but I can't see how that is possible when a show doing perfectly fine is there.
Does "perfectly fine" mean coming several thousand dollars short each week for the last four of making their weekly nut? LOL.
Sutton Foster will make a fantastic Fiona. I can't think of anyone more appropriate for the role. She has a leading lady quality and yet is so quirky and awkward that you can see her being perfect for the role. Plus, she is one of those original actresses that will definitely not copy Cameron Diaz' hilarious turn in the movie.
I can't wait to see Christopher Sieber in this as well.
Jeanine Tesori can do no wrong, her songs for MILLIE are pretty fun and amusing. And she should have earned a Pulitzer for CAROLINE, OR CHANGE--easily the most brilliant musical written since RAGTIME.
"but I highly doubt "Legally Blonde" is closing anytime soon."
This is a discussion about a show that might open a year from now, not anytime soon.

I was under the impression that Shrek was planning on opening in the 09-10 season. I wouldn't doubt that Legally Blonde will be gone by then, unless they do some stellar stunt casting.
ruprecht- Seriously? Andy Karl doesn't sound bad by any means, but it's clear that the end of the song does not set well in his voice. And he is slightly flat on a few parts. Chill.
"Somethingwicked, are you high? Andy Karl broke alot of hearts singing that song and was anything but "flat"."
Nowhere did I say Karl sounds bad, but it is quite clear that his voice cannot handle the latter part of the song (especially the key change, during which the music goes higher and his voice does not.)

I love Jennifer Simard, but I honestly don't understand how people think she is perfect for the role of Fiona. I think it perfectly suits Sutton, moreso than Inga, though I'm sure I'll change my mind if more suitable names are bounced around the board. Chester Gregory II would be the best Donkey! Didn't they already cast Shrek?

Slap some ogre ears on Kevin Chamberlain and we have our Shrek.
Miguel Cervantes definitely showed personality in "Fire Hot Lady" and a voice not too unlike what I can picture for Donkey... who doesn't necessarily have to be African-American, I'd argue. I think Miguel proves it. While I wouldn't necessarily cast him, I a black typecast definitely isn't needed here, even though the score calls for a strong R&B voice.
Oh, and can Jen Cody be in this show? Please and thank you.

According to the casting notice for the upcoming EPA, only FIONA and FARQUAAD are CAST. It looks as though they are still seeking SHREK and DONKEY, as well as YOUNG SHREK, YOUNG FIONA.
Are they not using the guys from the workshop foR SHREK and DONKEY? or merely keeping their options open?
CASTING NOTICE
I'm more than "chill" B3 and Somewick, I just happen to think you're wrong and his voice flowed with the key change just fine. Maybe the sound on my comp is "so much better".
He is straining. It's clear to everyone else. You are convincing yourself otherwise. You are also impossible. Goodbye.
POT.KETTLE.BLACK!!!! Btw, I was trying to make a lighthearted joke, oh well, you can't change a vicious poster, even with humor. Goodbye to you dearheart.
I think Dan Fogler is just about as perfect for Shrek as you're going to find.
Dan Folger's Tony speech was awkward.
Dan doesn't come to mind for a rock/R&B sound though. And Chamberlin seems too old.

True, Dolly. He definitely looked much older on "Heroes" last year than I remember him during the Seussical days. Maybe a newcomer, then. Large male Broadway stars who can play more than just Edna Turnblad don't rush to mind at the moment.
Wait, Dan Folger is on Heroes?!!!
they already cast young fiona. i know the girl and her contract is signed. they might be looking for understudies though?
Or alternates, depending on how young the actor is.
According to the AEA casting notice, the out of town try-out wil take place in Summer 2008 with a Fall 2008 Broadway opening; rehearsals begin in June 2008.

They are in final callbacks for Young Shrek right now.
So, if Sutton does this, when do you think she will leave Young Frankenstein? I hope she at least stays for the Tony Awards (of course, I'm like the only person on these boards who thinks Young Frankenstein will be nominated and perform)
Sutton will definitely stay with YF through her one year contract, which probably began at the start of out of town previews.
She will absolutely remain with the show through the Tonys, though YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN will not be nominated for Best Musical.
Hopefully Sutton will receive a nomination, though.
