I was perusing the TKTS app and in the description for Evita it announces a closing date of December 30. Is this accurate? Unlike Newsies I don't remember them stating it was to be a limited run.
What? Isn't it selling like hotcakes?
Wouldnt be suprised if that was true since that was the last day of Sean Hayes, kristen Chenowith (extended contract, Daniel Radcliff, and John Laroquettes contracts give or take a day or two, so its likly the same for Ricky Martin and after their reviews hes the only reason Evita's selling tickets.

Barring a drop off of the grosses, I'd doubt it. Ricky could extend, another star could be brought in, etc.
In case anyone is interested, Ricky Martin will be on vacation the following dates:
July 1 thru 8, 2012
August 5 thru 11, 2012

On those dates you will find him in residence at my place.
Thank you very much!
In a vat in the basement?
Is it "announced" or is that simply the last date for which tickets are currently being sold? Big difference.

I am NOT Jeffrey Dahmer, thank you very much!
drama, in that app it lists the opening and closing date for each show. If a closing date has not been announced it lists "open ended" Evita specifically lists 12/30/12 as a closing date.
Thanks for the clarification -- ah...I see my bigger error the OP mentions tkts....and I looked at Ticketmaster.
Interesting.
On those dates you will find him in residence at my place.
Thank you very much!
DEMENTIA has clearly set in.

Thanks for that, I am in New York from Friday from 29th June to 09th July, so Ricky is out most of my visit, which I was unaware of until now. So now alyered my plans accordingly, I now plan to buy a full price ticket for Saturday 30th for the evening show, which I don't mind paying full price, as this one is one of the hardest to get a discounts for and Saturday night is the busiest for shows on Broadway, so works out well, as it is hard to get decent seats for any show with discount for that night. so buying tactically!
The Ticketmaster website has this warning if you are trying to order tickets during Ricky's vacation period:
"Please be advised that Ricky Martin will be on vacation and will not perform in EVITA between July 1 - July 8, 2012."
I think I will be in NY during that period and may forgo seeing Evita--unless I can find Dollypop's residence where Ricky will be performing nightly.

TKTS has Audience Advisories -for Evita it only mentions Christina DeCicco as the alternate. The Once advisory says there are some uses of the F word but it is otherwise a wholesome show. Ghost does not have an advisory about the softcore love scene with the bare butt flashing on the screen.
Love that informative app!

I assure you that the performances at my place will be far more entertaining than the sorry sights on stage at EVITA.
I'm actually planning to go back when Ricky is out. He has charisma to spare, and lord is he sexy, but apparently just enunciating the words counts as acting.
Where is the best place to sit in the Marquis for a full price ticket, in the orchestra on the side, in the orchestra at the back row R and behind, or at the the front of the mezzanine?

The TKTS app also says that GHOST is closing January 1st, 2013.

^ Yes, totally saw that. And they just put up the billboard in Times Square with the actual lead actors.

The GHOST playbill is being changed to that same new logo and going black and white as well.

I don't think Evita will close just yet, they'll wait until it recoups which it'll likely do by the end of the year or early next and also find a star replacement for Ricky Martin and possibly Elena Roger.

Oh God, maybe Loretta Swit will finally get the role on Broadway that she deserves!
Just heard a very high quality sampling of what this new Evita sounds like and I'm not at all surprised it's not much more than a whimper.
The cast, however, is top-notch and this post isn't at all referencing them. I did not expect Ricky Martin to sound bad but he really has exceeded my expectations. He sounds great.
I've heard about half of it now and the orchestra sounds like sh*t. I can't believe people accept this crap. Half of it sounds like nothing more than this harpsichord thing, piano, and electric guitar. A few parts sound nice like the latter half of the Requiem, which actually proved to me there is any real brass in this production and the string section sounds really thin.
I can't pretend I don't notice it sounds very "pingy" metallic and there's the usual technique of pumping up the instrumental sections and thinning out the ones that support the singers.
The good news is the revised orchestration has largely the same message as the original orchestrations but these sound really quiet and not in a good way--it's obvious they've skimped on the musical component. I hope act 2 sounds better. Ew.
