FINDING NEVERLAND OBC recording

Hopefully it comes out on the 23rd like they said. Not really a fan of the other album they put out this past week... with all of the pop sounding numbers.

I'm still baffled at the asinine Concept Album, which I tried to listen to on Spotify but couldn't even get through. Just a lot of overwrought pop renditions. Gimme some damn Matthew Morrison already!
I'm actually rather excited for the proper album though.

I literally listened to the first song, then the one sung by Christina Aguilera, and then could not continue.

I tried so hard to listen to it, but couldn't. The concept album is so bad and so auto-tuned. I honestly can't wait for the OBCR to be released.

It does worry be that we are less than 20 days from its alleged release date and there have been no releases about concept art, track listing, or song previews. Not even a page on amazon to pre-order. This is beginning to look a lot like the concept album all over again Announced for April, then never appeared on its initial release date, only to find out later that day it is coming out in June - as if that was the real date all along.
In other words, who knows?

You're right about the fact we've heard nothing about the artwork and you can't even pre-order it. I feel like all we have to know that this CD is coming out on June 23 is their word, which really doesn't mean much. Oh, and that concept album is so bad I'd rather listen to the screeching sound of chalk on a chalk board for 3 hours.

At this point I do not know if we are ever going to see a OBC album

Maybe Harvey is keeping the lid very tight on it's existence until the day it comes out just so he can drive up sales of this wretched concept album. So whenever anyone goes to look for FINDING NEVERLAND, that's the only thing they see until the other is actually released.

Of course they are going to release a cast album... They already recorded it.

The only 3 songs from the concept album that I keep hearing are 'Neverland', 'Stronger' and 'We Own the Night'.
I think I'll like the other songs too, with the Broadway cast better.

Tell that to Lestat.

^ Lestat was also an immediate flop. Finding Neverland is not.

My favorite song on the concept album(and the in the show) is all that matters. I'm in love with Christina Perry. She needs to be on Broadway.

I have a question. Anywhere But Here is on the concept album but is it in the show?
Posted: 6/15/15 at 1:32am
I believe Anywhere But Here is a rewriting of Sylvia's Lullaby from the show. Same melody, many of the same lyrics, but some have been rewritten to make the song about being "anywhere but here"

"^ Lestat was also an immediate flop. Finding Neverland is not."
Dracula also had an album recorded for over five years before it was released, and that was with the performance rights already available for licensing.
While it does typically apply to flops, there's a long history of cast recordings being made and not being released. Just this year Stage Door released the 1975 recording of Jack the Ripper, for example. I wouldn't expect Harvey Weinstein to have put out the money to record the OBC and not try to see a return, but it could happen.

I'll probably get shot down for this but Elliot Kennedy tweeted last week that it's still coming out on the 23rd.
Posted: 6/15/15 at 1:33pm
Well to be fair Elliot Kennedy isn't always in the know. I chatted with him after a performance the final weekend Neverland played at the ART - and he told me all of the leads would be continuing on to Broadway...we all know how that turned out...

Yep, shot down just as I thought.
Posted: 6/15/15 at 3:39pm
I would very much like for this to be released.

It seems like I am distinctly in the minority here, but I really liked the pop-song album of Finding Neverland. I'd still love the OBC recording, but meanwhile, I am enjoying the pop "interpretations".
