That makes sense to me. Everything about FINDING NEVERLAND is so clearly about the bottom line that there's no room for artistry.
But perhaps we'll still be lucky. Maybe the good taste fairies will spirit away all evidence of the show to Neverland, and nobody will ever have to endure this show or be dumbed down by it again.
I might be in the minority but i have a audio bootleg of the version from Leicester and I quite like the score. It's beautiful. I look forward to the new cast album though.

At Jeremy Jordan's shows in SF this weekend, he sang Neverland from that version, it was the first I'd heard any songs from that original score, and while I like the current version of Neverland, I have to say, the Leicester Neverland was GORGEOUS, I liked it even better than what there is now, it was a beautiful song and I was thankful to have been exposed to it. Makes me curious to what the whole score is like, and just what it is that Harvey scrapped.
I'd be happy to share the audios I have if anyone wants to hear. I believe it is missing a few songs. In The Blink Of An Eye is a beautiful song as well.

I was there too and yes, the song and Jeremy were glorious.

I admit to having a FN bias -- it is tied with The Audience as the show I enjoyed the most this season. I am also looking forward to the OCR, but I decided to purchases he concept album anyway.
Much to my surprise, I love it. I know that the songs are sung very differently from the way they are done in the show, but that adds to the fun. I agree that a few of them are definitely overdone. As an example, I would cite Matthew Morrison's; but I love the way it is done, nevertheless.
I could see several of these songs becoming hits, which would benefit the show, so I am all for the concept album.
I was listening to the Sirius XM Broadway Channel earlier and Matthew Morrison, Kelsey Grammer and Laura Michelle Kelly we're on talking about the show, and during the hour long broadcast, they played "Believe" and "Stronger" from the Original Broadway Cast Album......so it's definitely done, now to see when it's released.
I haven't seen the show yet or heard much of the music besides a couple of the songs but I am really looking forward to "When You're Feet Don't Touch the Ground" on the OBCR as I really enjoy Gary Barlow's performance of the song that they had used in commercials for the show and everything and can be found on you- tube.
I actually enjoyed the concept album! I mean, I am more excited for the OBCR, but still enjoyed it! (But I loved the Aida concept album, so what do I know?)
I was also listening to SiriusXM to hear the cast recording and I was not impressed. Mathew's voice just does nothing for me. It lacks the passion and rawness that Jeremy's voice had.
Countdown til Jordan comes on raging about how much loves me! 3..2..1...
He sort of makes me mad. I was watching a video about the Leicester production and he acted all proud and was like "this is a show adults and children alike can connect to" but as soon as it got mixed reviews he fired everyone pretty much. Such a shame to throw away a beautiful score from Frankel and Korie

Yeeeeeeaaaaaaah, I didn't love the original score.

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
I do think some of the lyrics could have been better but all of the melodies at least to the song's I've listened to are beautiful but that's just my opinion.
It feels like this nearly month-long delay in releasing the OBC album has something to do with this other 'A-List Celebrity' album that Harvey Weinstein has been trying to push into everyone's faces. I've been waiting for nearly 2 months for the June 23 release date, so this is really disappointing. I couldn't care less about the other album.
"Mostly, I loved the size of these people's emotions. Nobody has emotions this size anymore. Outsized emotions. Operatic emotions. Kushemski and Vanda are like Tristan and Isolde, they're Paolo and Francesca. Nobody's in total thrall like this anymore. Nobody's overcome by passion like this, or goes through this kind of rage." Thomas, Venus in Fur
I cannot believe they have pushed back the OBC for Finding Neverland AGAIN! Now it is coming out July 17th, at this point I do not want to pay for it. I have lost interest in it.
Where can I find a copy of the orignal Finding Neverland soundtrack with Jeremy Jordan, I would love to hear it!
While there might be bootlegs, there is no official recording of the ART cast. (To the best of my knowledge)
No one NEEDS any recording. Lots of records push back release dates.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
