I went to the box office last week to inquire about SRO; I was told none would be offered... during previews. So I am not sure if they will be offering SRO now that it has opened. If so, that seems like a good deal.
Is Cerveris out of shape or is that his normal weight, never saw him perform, and by these pics he looks a little overweight.
I did standing room Sunday April 12 while still in previews. Got there at around 1pm and got the first ticket, I believe it was $30 i think.

Yes, she did. She took over when Socha unexpectedly departed.
She actually did. She didn't open the show, but she played Medium Alison for about the last two months of the run.

How does Michael Cerveris' weight even begin to pertain to these glowing reviews or the stunning performance he's delivering at the Circle in the Square? His appearance is perfectly suited to the character he's playing; that's all that matters.

And perfectly suited to the man himself.

""I expect critical raves, and I expect Tony awards for this show, likely even Best Musical. But after the core audience has seen it, what I don't expect is great box office. I believe there is no way to sell this show honestly to most of the tourists at the TKTS booth. Even ONCE had a selling angle this show lacks-- smash hit movie adaptation with amazing singing and dancing in a Dublin bar.
I usually agree with you--but seriously? You think people who bought tickets to Oncedid so because of the song?"
And lets be real, very few people saw Once because it was based on the movie. It was a small independent film which, while it did well in limited release, is not known among the public at all.
I have no idea what you are getting at, truth be told. How many theater reviewers do you suppose North Jersey paper has?
All these well deserved RAVES!
Uhh... It says "with the same cast as downtown." It is the same cast as downtown. It says nothing about whether it is the same cast he saw. It's not like he's trying to pull a fast one on the people reading his review. I am confused.
I don't see the concern, either.
Random tidbit but I'm watching The Skeleton Twins again and just realized that Ms. Lucas is in it!
Bruce seems to be a guy pretty enamored with himself. Only asked one question is he outta shape.

I don't know what weight Cerveris normally is at, but I think the look he has right now fits Bruce. "Not too bad if I say so myself" is the recurring line Bruce uses to reassure himself he might still attract someone.
He's a teacher/funeral home director/home restorer in Pennsylvania. His slightly schlumpy look seems to fit that mixed persona and the original time period of the show.

Teachout's WSJ review just posted.
"I wanted more out of “Fun Home” when I first saw it, and I still do. If you haven’t read the book, though, you won’t know or regret what’s missing from the stage version: The songs are engaging, the production ideal, and the cast is even better on Broadway than it was downtown, with Mr. Cerveris and Judy Kuhn (who plays his long-suffering wife) once again outdoing themselves. Mr. Cerveris might just be the best musical-theater performer we have, a truly daring artist who isn’t afraid to be strange onstage, and he has never given us anything more exciting than his performance in “Fun Home.”
All of these amazing reviews make me so happy. I haven't been able to keep up with all of them because of school. If it does not win Best Musical or sweep, I will be side-eying the Tonys from now on.
Looks like ticket prices just went up. First three rows on all sides are now premium. They weren't before. Here we go-award season.

“But now I’m the one who’s 43/ and stuck/ I can’t find my way through.” Was 43 the age of her father at his death? How is Alison stuck? And will the cartoon be her solvent? A couple of lines in the libretto would go a long way to making the piece feel more purposeful.
Very much agree with this.
She's stuck, maybe in writing the memoir, or about how she feels about her father.
