Does anybody know what time the final round of Tony eligibility will be announced? I know it's today but I'm just curious what time it's gonna drop

When you see the clouds of white smoke coming up from Sardi's, you'll know they have decided.

Haha, very funny, but in all seriousness tho, while we wait, what does everybody think they're gonna determine. From what I understand it's the remaining 12 productions from this season they're discussing which are Good Night, and Good Luck, BOOP! The Musical, The Last Five Years, Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends, Smash, John Proctor is The Villain, Floyd Collins, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Just in Time, Pirates! The Penzance Musical, Dead Outlaw and Real Women Have Curves
Nobody knows and it doesn't matter when the announcement happens.
This usually happens in the late afternoon or early evening, but not always.
Hard to know as we don't know what petitions the prodoctions have requested. I suspect we will mostly hear about category placements for the actors.
When will we hear? When they are done figuring it all out. It could take ten minutes, it could take ten hours.

If their producers are smart, they will petition John Proctor for Best Revival, and DHP for Featured Actor. This is what I am most interested in hearing today.

I certainly don't know if I would consider John Proctor as a revival. DHP for Featured Actor I can definitely see happening
I don't know that they'd get movement on JP. I think it would be seen as a leverage more (where there is possibly less competition.) And I don't think it should, either. It's only had 2 previous productions (AFAIK) and don't think it's been around long enough.
DHP....would be a smart move.
I know people talk about wanting to know the actual results (numbers) on Tony voting, but this is the place I'm more curious about: what shows petitioned for what changes. (with no regard to their being approved or not.)

And I think it's announcements like these that are important so we all can update our nomination predictions as the season goes on and with this last round of eligibility it's a good opportunity to make those last minute changes to predicting the official nominees
I think the ones that are most in question in terms of affecting our fake nomination prediction lists (and, right, the actual nominations) are the Pirates! and Smash casts (+ to a lesser degree Jeb Brown in Dead Outlaw and Bernadette/Lea in Old Friends) and how they'll be determined as lead vs featured... and John Proctor is The Villain, whether that'll be considered a revival (slim chance imho) and whether Sadie Sink is lead or featured (legit 50/50 arguments both ways imho).
Otherwise everything else is pretty straightforward? I'm sure they'll do some combining of practical set designers + effects/video designers to be co-nominated in scenic design for things like Boop! and Stranger Things.

The JP script has been around since 2018-19, I remember reading a copy of it in one of my final years at grad school. Even though it has only been produced at a major theatre twice, it has also had numerous college productions. If they're ruling Eureka Day a revival, it would seem very unfair to not give JP the same ruling.

I guess anything is possible, but I don't see why David Hyde-Pierce (''Pirates!'' ) would be bumped down to Featured. He's above the title, and George Rose was nominated for Leading Actor in a Musical for the same role of the Modern Major General at the 1981 Tony Awards.
I'm more curious about whether the Tonys will bump Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga to Featured Actress, even they're above the title in ''Old Friends.'' ... In the 2010 season, Barbara Cook and Vanessa Williams were both above the title in ''Sondheim on Sondheim,'' but Roundabout wanted Williams in Featured, so she wouldn't have to compete with Cook for Leading Actress. Instead, both were bumped to Featured, and only Cook got the nomination.
Would be a silly move to not have Sadie Sink in Lead as it then moves the category to five nominees, and all but guarantees a nomination there for her.

George Rose also WON Best Leading Actor for playing Alfie Doolittle in MY FAIR LADY, so he's probably not the best comparison. Categorization by billing was much more strict back then.

That's true but no one has any chance of winning against Snook (rightfully imho), and in Featured she could not only be nominated but has a legit chance to win, given the raves she got across the board. I still maintain that if Shelby was played by an unknown actress it would certainly be considered a featured role.

Rose and Hyde-Pierce are playing the same role, so it's a perfect comparison. If Hyde-Pierce is bumped to Featured, that would be ironic. Hyde-Pierce actually has more to sing and has a larger role in ''Pirates'' than he did as Horace in ''Hello, Dolly!,'' in which he was up for Leading Actor.
Again, the Tonys will do whatever they do.
Yeah Shelby is definitely a featured role, not a lead. But Beth is a showier role. Sadie probably has a safer chance at getting nominated on the lead category, but zero chance of winning there. But in featured, she’d be competing with Fina Strazza and potentially Amalia Yoo to get in the category at all—though if she does get in, she has as good a chance as any other nominee of winning IMO.

Well this was disappointing as I thought with your Subject line this was the actual announcement.
How about adding a When and a ? when asking a question?
The past two announcements weren't released until at least 5pm if memory serves. So prob not for a few more hours. I think the last one was so late (after 6pm I believe) that many websites didn't even publish the story until the following morning.
The administration usually doesn't meet until around 1pm on decision days. And they have to consider all shows and all petitions from producers. Then they have to put it all into a press release and sort the relevant shows into their respective category on the Tony Awards website.

Sounds like the correct decisions all around. 👍
I really thought / hoped they’d push DHP to Featured.
