I did not hear about him being dropped. I really don't follow AI and its contestants.

Lake.
I only know that because a rising number of old contestants have been dropped from their labels recently... include Kat McPhee, Ruben Studdard, George Huff, and Bucky. And as I mentioned Taylor Hicks.
just proves that no one is safe after AI

So no real reviews?

Snarky comments? From me? I love Taylor Hicks and am glad to see him on Broadway. I started a thread to wish him well. I hope we get some real reviews soon.
But I shouldn't be surprised TDH "misread" my original post- he does have a history of that.

The Hicks fans seem to think they're "Raiders of the Lost Arts". There's already a video of his opening night on youtube. It's pretty poorly shot so you can't really see much of the choreography or how he carries himself on stage but you can hear it. I, personally, did NOT like what I heard at all. Sour and weird. And does Teen Angel REALLY need a harmonica? Please.
I'm really not looking forward to seeing this train wreck later this month.
Edited to add that I didn't catch a line flub but the video froze a few times so I could have missed it. But there was one part towards the end where I could not hear what he was singing at all. So that may have been the line flub that's been talked about.
Edited again to say that I found it. He sings "Now your bangs are COMBED, your lashes twirled"

Actually, joekv is incredibly deluded in thinking he has a "sense of humor". Time and again when reading his posts I just go, huh? Good for Hicks. Why don't you place your anger where it belongs for once joe and blame the producers who obviously thought paying him a boat load of money for this was a good idea. At least he can sing circles around most of the people they stunt cast Broadway roles with.

I thought this was a joke thread at first. I'm still not entirely sure.
And I agree... um, Lt Cable is reserved for people who are actually capable of playing the role and some of the other roles you mentioned.
Taylor Hicks = no.

I, for one, am elated that reality TV continues to take jobs away from hard working actors every day and give it to those "just plain normal folks with a dream".
Just elated. really.

When he pulled out the harmonica the other night, I cringed. Absolutely cringed.

Wow. Just watched the youtube clip. I have to say, I've never been a huge fan of stunt casting because I think the people working their asses off and dedicating their lives to Broadway should get the job instead of some American Idol kid. But even though I felt this way, I admit that many of these people have done well. Fantasia (from what I heard) was incredible, Aiken was fine. But Taylor Hicks was awful. He sounded unsure of the lyrics, and had I not known that he won American Idol, I never would have guessed that he won ANY award for his singing. But my favorite thing in the video was the audience. In the Fantasia clips people are screaming like they're at a Baptist convention, and Clay fans are throwing granny panties at the stage, and it sounds like there are about 8 Hicks fans in the audience.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention...I'm the good cop, he's the bad cop.

Oh, me too. Angels play harps not harmonicas.
How was he live? On the youtube video you couldn't see how he moved and I'm curious as to how he came across on stage and played the role physically.

Again, let me say I am EXCITED that Taylor is on Broadway and am 100% sincere in my hope he has a long and illustrious career.
And why can't Teen Angel play harmonica? It's no stranger than having Harry Connick suddenly play the piano in Pajama Game.

Have they changed the ordering of the bows for him? I'm guessing that they unfortunately probably did but if they didn't that's great!

As a Taylor fan, I thought he sounded great in the video. If he wants to play Harp, more power to him. The harmonica is called a harp, and angels play harps, so maybe they asked him to do it because they knew he was great at it, and they thought it would be a play on words or something.
Anyway, he is the only reason that I'd like to see the show.

I heard an audio of Taylor's performance and I thought it was beautiful. It was note for note perfect and he gave a pitch perfect falsetto not once but twice. The crowd absolutely went nuts for him with applause and he was eating it all up. A HUGE success from ALL accounts of those in attendance. The crowds at the stage door were tremendous. Taylor had 2 bodyguards with him. His appearance at Planet Hollywood later on was met with hundreds of press photographers and lots of smiles!!
I feel sorry for all you jealous turds who can't give credit where it's due and yes, the man has been around for 10 years before AI looking for a major break. Some of you people are PITIFUL little vermon. If you only saw the smiles on people's faces in the audience and at the door, you'd know the joy that he brings to many many people.
