I was hoping she'd been on the sign that has 4 shows, and it kinda wraps around the corner....it has Jersey Boys, A Chorus Line, Wicked & Hairspray.
Hairspray can go.

I went into the city today, and here's the photos I took of Gypsy:

And one I took of the lonesome Circle in the Square.

Not to harp, but the image still just disappoints me so much. I hate the Ravinia photo/costume. I miss the purple dress with bright yellow lights in the background from City Center. Some of those photos could have been transformed into wonderful show art.
Oh well.
Does anyone else see the woman in the first picture that Pianist3912 posted? She looks like Patti with her Evita wig on!
Okay, to touch on a couple things in this thread:
“don't get me wrong, but, why are they reviving it so soon after the Bernadette Peters revival?”
“Don't get me wrong, I love Patti and LOVE "Gypsy" and wish this production all the best, but this show DID just have a revival, and as much as I loved that production, in my opinion it didn't do THAT well”
This has NOTHING to do with the last remounting of this show. The fact is that theatre lovers ‘of a certain age’ have always wanted to see Patti do the role, because for one reason or another it hasn’t happened until now. It is one of the greatest female roles in musical theatre history, and Patti is a legend, so when I see these kinds of posts:
“She's Broadway's greatest star?”
“Underwhelming like Patti”
The only thing that ran through my mind was:
There was a time, when kids were kind.
When their voices were soft, and their words inviting…
There was a time…
It all went wrong.

That has been there for a while, they wouldn't get rid of it.
All of those shows are running strong and those signs aren't going anywhere.

Neddy, that thought actually did cross my mind. Maybe it'll get a better location eventually...

I don't think so since it will only be running for a limited time.
The one in Times Square above the Virgin Megastore should already be up. They were putting it up a short bit ago.

Eep! Sorry for teh big-ness, guys...I'll make them URLs.
I know they are only selling tickets until October. But where has it been stated GYPSY will be a limited run?
Awesome! Now that it is up; take it down!
No seriously, I think it looks fine---now that there is some visual to it.
Hey at least the window card will have plenty of space for the cast signature. On e-Bay, someone is selling a cast signed "Yong Frankenstein" and it looks like a combo of "Where's Waldo" and a Rorschach test.
Where are dem photos of the new one that went up today on Times Square?
I looked on this board and this thread is the only one regarding the GYPSY marquee and there are no photos posted of this new one -- there were photos of the one at the Circle in the Square, but they were deleted a short bit ago.
Why don't you get up and go out and see it for yourself, Brody?

Thanks, RyToast1 for the heads-up.

I don't know why, but that made me laugh really hard.

It isn't a limited run. It has just been reported many times by insiders that it will be running for a limited time!

Uhhh, so, that's why she's Broadway's greatest star?
...and The Robber Bridegroom and Working and Oliver and Anything Goes and Sunset Blvd and Master Class and Noises Off and Sweeney Todd and Evita and just being the sassy, brassy dame that she is!
The marquee and the ad in Times Square don't bug me too much, they're servicable...
but um, "At last..."? Is that the best they could think of?
Patti's calender on her website has her in Gypsy until February, so if it's a limited run, no one's told her.
Though I did e-mail her and she told me that she's signed until then, she just doesn't expect it to run that long. So it sounds like it's open-ended, but no one's anticipating more than a few months.
