You ignored my question!
I know it's off topic, but what's the deal with the Martin Short tour? Saw your ass (literally) in NY and want to see the show (not your ass) again.
I'm curious why you made the choice to cut the VonTussle's verse in You Can't Stop the Beat.
The consensus was it was just too unrealisitc for a movie. Onstage you can, with all the energy, just say "fu*k it" like we did, and have them make that pure Broadway Musical change of heart
Now, we DID record and film a moment where the police chief comes in with a warrant for Tracy's arrest and they sing to HIM "Lock up them Von Tussles, go on, shake your fanny muscles" (which by the way is my proudest insane lyric!).
But it just seemed to stop the flow. And we cut it very early on after viewing the rough assemblage.
$27 mil, Marc. How's that feel? Were will your new beach house be? And can I come over to swim?
It feels not bad!
The movie cost 75 mill, and about that much again for marketing and publicity. So, don't break out that bathing suit quite yet. Unless it is to wear to GO SEE THE MOVIE AGAIN!!!

WELL!!!!
The tour was postponed when negotiations with my ass collapsed. As did my ass.

"Do you promise to kiss at least one man on national television every time you win an award for the movie? "
"sure, the line starts on the left"
Well, I'm not a man but I want to get in that line! Maybe I can find someone to make me a prosthetic man suit? Hmm???
I thought I heard Velma say "Bye Bye Birdie" but there is always hooting when Ricki Lake shows up- so I miss the line.
That's wonderful.
btw- Brittany Snow would make a great Kim, as Amanda Bynes would Ursula.
I am seeing it again today.
I have a question.
2006 must have been such a wonderful year for you and it seems to have carried over to 2007.
Having this movie being made and being on Broadway in "Fame Becomes Me" did you ever find it hard to juggle the two?
Was there ever a time where you felt you were missing out at being on the Hairspray set or was the limelight too great? Had you not been on Broadway would you have been in Toronto 24/7?
Zac would make a great Conrad...
But, I guess that was the point. :p

Yes - but so would Jimmy Marsden.
I could see Zac as Hugo- I'd actually really like to see that. A more nerdy (although I feel Link is VERY nerdy) simple minded character.
I've never seen Link as nerdy, just square... which I feel is a bit of a difference.
Z.
o, yeah that's a better word for him!
That and 'white.'
Question: If Zac Efrom wasn't more dashing and famous than I, I would have obviously been cast as Link.
This thread has fallen off the main page. Ohmygawd!! What if ATCers saw that?

Whoa. So about a total of $150 million?
Do you guys think that you can make that much money in box office? What was the estimated gross for this movie?
Oh yes, and I told the record company we should make a compilation album called HAIRSPRAY:THE ROOTS that is made up of all the records that inspired Scott & I.
I have a similar listing of '60's song that I feel fit the Hairspray scenes/themes/sounds.
But I would love to have your listing - I'd buy all the songs on iTunes- if I don't have them already.
If you feel the studio would really go ahead with something like that then by all means keep the listing to yourself- but if you don't think it will happen - I and others would love to create our own "HAIRSPRAY:THE ROOTS" CD's! :)
If you do write up on each of the songs and how they inspired you and Scott and what specific songs in Hairspray they may have inspired.
but you know what- all that sounds too good to be not be produced! So I hope New Line Records takes a good look at it.
I stayed through the whole credits again, and I thought I saw that one of the "Special Thank"-ed was Major League Baseball Productions. Why exactly is that? I mean, I love baseball as much as the next guy (I'm from St. Louis), but what did they do?
that must be the name of someone's production company, I don't know.
I am not Marc, but there was a Major League Baseball Advanced Media sponsored sweepstakes on Queen Latifah's website, where the winner received two tix to the Los Angeles premiere of Hairspray, including walking on the red carpet, meeting Latifah, etc...So this may have been one of those cross-promotional thanks, with regards to that contest, in the credits maybe?

Question, was it coincidental that all of Brittany Snow's singing except for a couple of lines in "New Girl In Town" were cut or was that done on purpose?
Marc, was the name of the third actress that played one of "The Dynamites" named Arike Rice or something??
Jacob, I posted a response telling you that her name is Arike Rice ... why ask again- with the name I gave you?
Sorry. I didn't look back.
Well you should have.

Hey Marc, how does it feel for Hairspray to be popular in the UK despite being against Harry Potter and not being familar with the stage production of the show. It has £2.05 Million or $4.1 Million in its first three days already!

Marc,
First, I loved the movie! What a fun time. The energy was so strong I was tapping my feet throughout the entire movie. I couldn't help myself!
Anyway, In listening to the soundtrack, during Good Morning Baltimore, I notice Tracy very plainly says "symPony" instead of "symPHony". It even seems like she is emphasizing the 'P' sound. Is there some signifigance to this or am I just insane?
Marc;
A) the movie was amazing, if i had time, i would have seen it twice today!
B)THis may have been asked already, but why were the welcome to the 60's costumes changed? I loved the original ones( not that these ones aren't fabulous)
`Hannah
Is it a possibility that we'll ever hear the score? I would also love to hear extended versions of "Baltimore" with the intro...as well as the other songs. The underscoring of "Cooties" during the dance off was brilliant, too. The ringing phones...just brilliant.

I, too, would love to hear selections from the score---particularly during the scene between Tracy and Wilbur in the joke shop (I believe it was a slowed-down version of "Good Morning Baltimore").
