I need your help! I'm going on a date and the guy has never seen a show. I want to do something with rush (not a lotto) that he'll like. The plan was Les Mis but they suspended rush for the week. We're both in college, if that helps. I just want his first musical to be an awesome experience. So HELP!!!!

Les Miz would be a big mistake I think, it's too long and even some musical lovers find it boring. My 1st choice would be A Chorus Line(it has SRO), or Spring Awakening, Grey Gardens or maybe Rent?

Spring Awakening student tickets. but only if you are interested in sleeping with the guy. it may put you in the mood.
Only take him to the producers if you plan on him breaking up with you afterwards.
Les Miserables is a work of musial genius but It may not be a gooed first choice. Actually, it may be I know a lot of people who aren't your typical musical going crowd who love les miserables.
I was thinking Producers but the seats are terrible. I couldn't see last time I did rush. SA was my first choice but I don't want to wait in line that early. I'd have to get there at an insane hour.
He chose Les Mis.
Any thoughts on Drowsy's cheap seats or Company?
If he has never seen a show before, take him to Les Mis (there is a discount code out there). Though Drowsy and Company are good shows, Les Mis is a perfect introduction to Broadway, in my opinion. It was the first show I saw back in 1996 and I loved it.
Withoutatrace, it was mine too. I just called them to get the cheap seats and they're sold out!!!!
We're pressed for cash and wanted to keep it $36.25 and under.
Spring Awakening might be interesting. it's not the most romantic show but it's certainly one that I think appeals to people unfamiliar with musicals and also it's sure to be good for post show discussion.
I can't do standing room for a first show. How early would I have to get there for SA?
Sorry for being so picky, but I want it to be perfect for his first show plus it's our second date so I want the entire day to be good.
The original plan was if not Les Mis then Company. What do you think of that?
Company is great but it's a little pricy for rush. SA has both rush and standing...i've only seen SA on Sunday. you're gonna prolly gonna have to get there about two to two and a half hours before but I think that either Company or Spring would be really good first musicals. and the rush seats for both are EXCELLENT
Spring Awakening would be perfect - non traditional theater music with a college age cast in a cool setting.
The price is ok for Company. It's our max, but he agreed to it. Where are the seats and how early should I get there?
Producers rush isn't that bad.
Honestly, I wasn't thrilled with the show when I saw it. Does anyone else have an opinion on Company? Or what other shows with rush or cheap seats would be good.
"Honestly, I wasn't thrilled with the show when I saw it"
You were talking about many shows, what show didn't thrill you?
Oh, sorry. The Producers.
Eh. Company doesn't seem like a great date show.
I actually took my ex to see The Color Purple for our first date and his first show and he really liked it. He picked the show because he had met some of the cast members at his work.
I recently recommended Spring Awakening to him but I have yet to hear back what he thought of it.
You can see Grey Gardens, they have rush seats.
I was going to suggest Grey Gardens but when we were on our first (real) date on Saturday night they played a song from it in the movie theater before previews began and he said, "What is this song?" I told him it was Broadway and he siad, "Oh. I hope that's not what we're seeing." So that's out.
I don't need it to be a date show. I'd prefer it not to be something sappy and romantic. That's why Les Mis was perfect. It has a historical base but it has the romance and the battle and it was well rounded. I just want him to enjoy the show and the experince.

MAMMA MIA has no rush. I've narrowed it down to Drowsy (how bad are the cheap seats...not rush?)and Company. Any thoughts?
I have taken two people to see Company as their first Broadway show, they weren't dates, but they were blown away.
