I give them credit also. But there is nothing I would wait in line that long to see and/or pay the prices for line sitters. I can barely tolerate a three hour rush ticket line. But I'm also happy to hear that the show lives up to your expectations. I do enjoy reading the stories.

The front SOLD guy on line for TUESDAY's show got there at 6am on MONDAY (apparently showed up an hour later than he was supposed to but was still first). The front sold guy for WEDNESDAY's show got there at 5am on TUESDAY. While we were in the show last night two more Wednesday waiters showed up and then two guys showed up who decided they were going to be first on line for THURSDAY (so about 43-45 hours before the show starts). They didn't seem to be professionals, and Miguel (the SOLD guy) said that this might shift his boss's strategy suggestions if it happens again. I hope SOLD doesn't start doing 48 hours out or more. That would be truly ridiculous, and people not paying for line spots might be SOL (leave of the last D for devastating)."
Oh god, I'll never be able to see it without shelling out big money or trying to get time off work to just wait, if that's all true! Yiiiikes
I can't believe somehow waiting in line for cancellation tickets has become another "only people with hella money" thing.
I've been lurking this thread for a little while and it's been super informative so far, not to mention exciting to see people's patience rewarded. I figured that I might as well take a shot (har har har) at camping out myself, as I have been blessed - or maybe cursed - with an ungodly amount of patience, and a cat-like ability to fall asleep literally anywhere.
I figured I would show up at around 6AM tomorrow, to try and get tickets to the 7PM show. If I somehow miss those tickets, I'll continue to keep my place in line until Friday's 8PM show, and hopefully get in then. Ideally I would like to only have to sit about 13 hours, but if it ends up being the full 38(? my math is atrocious) hours, I should still be fine.
As for supplies, I can't manage a lawn chair, but I can probably bring along a pillow - will the Richard Rodgers object to me trying to check a pillow?
Aside from that, I've got a change of clothes, my phone, a battery pack, my sketchbook (I'll draw you if you ask nicely!), my 3DS, and maybe a novel or two, which I think should be enough to pass the time, in between naps. They all fit in my handbag, which I'm very grateful for, and I'll fill any remaining space with extra food and drawing supplies.
Would anyone recommend I bring anything else? Also, how is the policy on leaving the line for toilet or food breaks? Will people generally hold your spot?

FYI we didn't check anything. Our backpacks came to our seat with us. We were able to leave our chairs by where Miguel (super nice SOLD guy) was sitting during the show with now problems.
As for books and stuff to do, I found the overnight to be the only part where I needed much entertainment. Once the sun came out, and especially when Miguel got there we were all chatting and having a good time. The time passed easily and we really turned into a line "family".
The line polices itself and people are able to leave for bathroom and food breaks and everyone was very reasonable. Up to an hour at a time to get food and stuff is normal and acceptable. I would say just tell someone when you go so they don't think you're going to a hotel to sleep or something. Leaving your stuff there is perfectly fine since the group is respectful and protective.
in terms of your 38-ish-hour wait scenario, you might still need to make up your mind at some point before 7pm that you are switching lines to the next day. People at the front of our line had been on the line the previous day but got shut and wound up behind a couple of people for the next day who committed earlier.

I don't know for sure but the impression that I get from reading earlier posts here is that you can not check anything but a coat/jacket.

Thank you for the info! About the last paragraph - are you saying that two lines begin to form, one for the current show and one for the next day? Wow! I might just commit to 38 hours if that's the case.
Now I'm curious how many people are currently on line, and if I should jumpstart my wait and go tonight.
Hi again. On Tuesday 5/10 I got on line at around 4:20 and after doing line math (each person could equal two tickets). I realized that as person 11 or 12 it was unlikely that I would get a cancellation ticket but after checking with everyone in line I would be first for premium tickets. Since I was going back to Portland OR on Wednesday (today) the premium tickets - if available - would be my only chance to see the show. On Monday the box office cooks came by by 11 Am to offer premium. On Tuesday they came by around 3:30.
I agree with everyone else that Miguel from SOLD was super helpful and an all around great guy. The line folks became line family and today I miss all the lovely folks I meet.
Lori H2 said: "To review my over long posts... If you want to have a better chance at a cancellation ticket get on line by 11 or Midnight the night before.
i was fine sitting on the steps with a blanket I did not bring a chair.
The line was almost as much fun as getting in."
Just to be thorough, 11PM the night before for a 2PM show, or a 7PM show?
Also I'm glad you had a good time! Thank you for sharing your experience as well. The atmosphere of the line sounds so fun, I almost feel excited to go camp out.

Make friends. People are very understanding when it comes to bathroom/food breaks. I stopped taking breaks around 5:00 PM (for the 7 PM show).
Tuna2 said: "@mbusani14 - I saw the show on 5/2/16 (Monday) from the cancellation line. I got there at 9:40 that morning. I was 8th in line. By 1:00 pm, two people ahead of me (6th and 7th) had left and that put me at 6th in line. The fifth person got on line at 2:00 that morning (5/2). Counting for all the tickets that folks were getting in front of me, I would be getting the 10th ticket available. I did get in to see the show and there were only 15 tickets available for that night (with two of those being no-show lottery). So to answer your question, it's really hard to say! I think my case was more the exception, not the rule. All things being equal to my situation, if going as a single, I would think getting there by 6:00 am you should have a good shot of getting in. Pretty much anything after number six in line, you likely will not get a ticket. Try for shows on Tues. and Thurs.. If you can get there next Monday (the last Monday show until July), try that day as well. According to the SOLD guys, Wednesday and Saturdays are pretty tough to get tickets if you were to come in that late (6:00 am). It's really hit or miss if you're not within the first three or four places in line. Give it a try and good luck in your efforts!
Thanks so much for the info! I'm very nervous and hesitant to try this but seeing as anything can happen and I am a single, my chances seem better. I'll definitely try going on a Tuesday sometime soon and hopefully that'll get me in...who knows! It seems like the wait is an experience in itself and I'll beat myself up if I never at least try! Congrats on seeing it tho!
Is there any rhyme or reason to resale ticket prices? I've been tracking vividseats and stubhub the past few days, in hopes of snagging a pair of pretty good seats for around $500 each. I don't understand why the same seats go down in price, then up, then down again, then up again throughout the day. There were 4 seats listed today, orchestra row Q, at around $600 each. 2 were sold, then the other 2 dropped to $530. Tried to buy them, but before I had them in my "cart," they were gone. At that point, there were 10 tickets available from the same seller in orchestra side row R at $579. This was around 1 p.m. Around 4 p.m., the number dropped to 4 tickets, but the price went UP to $650! So no tickets for me today.
Anyone know how to get the best same-day price? (Can't do last minute because I have to allow 2 hours to print and travel.) Not that that matters, because at 7:55 tonight on vividseats, there were just 2 tickets left at $1800 each!

I have been monitoring StubHub. At 7:55 tonight on StubHub there were 2 row A center for just $465 each plus fees but I don't know of anywhere nearby that is open to print. (10 minutes earlier they were $700 plus.) One would miss the beginning of the show I think. But it seems to really vary. I do know that prices were pretty good earlier in the day last Saturday when Javier played Hamilton. If you want the screen shot from 2 hours before show time that day, private message me.
One more quick question before I head out - cancellation tickets bought from the Box Office can be paid for with a credit/debit card, right? Or do I need cash only?

Both (cash or card). Keep us updated Ehlbee! Good luck.

Thank you so much! I'll try and make a few posts while I'm waiting for an in-progress experience, and I'll keep an hourly timeline as well. Fingers crossed!

I've only seen the prices drop an hour before showtime. There is a Fedex at the Marriott Marquis.

If it's an INSTANT DOWNLOAD & a 7pm show, again, your friend, the Marriott Marquis, has a FedEx Kinkos on the 8th floor. They close at 7pm so not good for 8pm instant download.
For INSTANT DOWNLOAD & PICK UP ONLY, StubHub office is located in the lower level of the Courtyard Marriott and they print anything you purchase. It's on 40th street between 5th & 6th. About 11 minutes walking from the RRT. With 30-20 minutes before curtain, it may be possible.
In Feb, I wanted to go see the show and I thought $290 was too much.
The Grammy's happened and $290 became $450 plus fees, $535 which is what I paid for last night's show in March after 17 hrs on the cancellation line resulting in zero. Glad I did buy in March because my seats were going for $700 yesterday.
The day before the Tony nominations, I managed to snag 1 of 4 tickets at $550 plus fees, $658 in the 3rd row at 1:30pm just so see it super close and I could die happy.
The next day no seat that close was that low at that time of day. Learned from my Grammy lesson.
To save as much money via the resale, try to do it before The Tony Awards. I am sure the tix will spike up in price after that.

Premium tickets are released throughout the day. Depends on the availability also.
