I took the SOLD guys into consideration when decided to start 28h in advance instead of 12hs last time. I guess Tony did bring some influence and the last person got in for Monday arrived on 11:30pm. Miguel does commented I am an odd ball for doing this as a fan that early. But I was afraid that if I got there too late, there might be 3-4 lines sitters before me. Which happened before from memory on some posts back. I was also determined that I want a orchestra seat. I am an very orchestra person in terms of musical. Did both Lion King and Hamilton front center Mezz and didn't really enjoy much. I love to be surrounded by the whole thing. But of course, according to the box office and many people I talked to front center mezz is the best seat.

anyone take advantage? I let my peeps know but don't know if anyone actually went to buy since the tickets remaining were all the $549/$329 premium/preferred and $139 rear mezz standard.

I skipped it but I did tell all my friends about it in case they want to buy legit tix at face value prices without waiting in the cancellation line!
@nrubano - good luck next week! I hope you get to see the show!
I have a feeling Memorial Day weekend will be a very busy one for line sitters and fans. I think it was Easter weekend when a set of girls waited 3 days?
BTW, from what I recall, it is possible to be in 2 lines at the same time (i.e. when you get to the theater, join the end of the line but if no one else is there for tomorrow's show --- declare that you're first in line for tomorrow's show in case you don't get tix later that evening.) Just make sure everyone knows so it's clear.
Hey everyone! I made it to the cancellation line at midnight. I'm currently eighth in line, but in fifth place for standard tickets, since the two girls in front of me are getting premium. I'm going to try and nap for a little, but I'll write down anything interesting that happens.
Line so far: two men up in the front, two SOLD guys, premium girls, myself, and a man first in line for Friday - we established that if I didn't get in today, I would be second in line for Friday.

It would be great if you could keep us updated on the line for friday, if you see it grow! This afternoon/evening I plan on starting to wait in the friday line for a person who is flying in later tonight, and I want to keep them as up-to-date as possible on how many people might be in front of them.

Can do! Hopefully my phone will keep its charge. Currently the Friday line is as follows:
1. Older line holder (not SOLD)
2. Myself (however, I have a good shot of getting in today, I'm told)
3. SOLD
4. A lady who may or may not (?) also be waiting
So that's four so far! Usually the lucky number for people is seven, at least I think. Best of luck to you and your friend!
Thanks so much! Earliest I can get there is 4, so I've got my fingers crossed. Yeah, I'm really hoping my friend will be able to see it, since they've flown out and all (and I also really want to see it, obviously haha). Hope you get in tonight!
@MinervaMoon
Ah dang, that #1 is worrying but also not very clear. Surely if someone is waiting for pair tickets, the two people within the pair can share the line-waiting duty, as long as one of them is there waiting for that set of tickets, right? SOLD guys wait for pair tickets and then swap with the actual ticket-buyer near the end of the wait, right? Does anyone have experience with this rule and how it's enforced?
Someone posted this pic on Reddit so I don't know any insider info. My speculation: they're trying in whatever way they can to cut down on the ever-increasing wait times that people are putting in, helped in large part by SOLD and other line-sitters, which the theatre sees as getting a bit out of hand. So I'm guessing the unspoken aim of these are:
#1 - If the person who starts the line has to be there the whole time, the limit of the wait is human stamina. If the same person then also has to see and enjoy the show at the end of their endeavor, they probably don't want to be up for 30 hours.
(So in answer to your question, although this is just a guess, I think that in theory they are indeed trying to disallow the person who starts the line at whatever time being "relieved" by either a line-sitter or friend, or else this would negate the purpose of enforcing these rules. I don't know how it would be enforced in real life when the box office isn't open, but maybe they're hoping that people who are sticking to the rules will police any attempt at others "cheating".)
#2 - Stamina again; make it less comfortable, and people are less likely to want to stay for line.
#5 - In combo with the no-swapping, this seems to be aimed at culling hired line-sitters specifically.
Also, #4 is interesting -- I wonder if it means they're not going to stress people out by asking how many tickets they need before they reveal what is available.

If you need to charge your phone, there is a parking lot in front of the theater. To the right is a small tiny office with 2 parking employees. Ask them very kindly if you can charge your phone there (say for an hour). They normally say yes if they're in a good mood.
Two weeks ago, Em6 said that the box office were going to put up signs of no chairs/tents. Can anyone who is at the richard rodgers theater verify that that photo is real? I'm guessing it would be inside the box office or outside of it.
Back in November when I first did the cancellation line, none of those rules existed (we were even able to wait inside the box office!)
From what I saw last week, if the folks who hired the line sitter is there, they replace the line sitter roughly an hour before the show starts.
I also noticed that cancellation line rules photo for the first time when I walked by this morning. The funny thing is that it's posted on the wall that's, as you're looking at the RR, closer to the Marriott Marquis side, yet the line of people was lined up on the steps side of the theatre. That's why I noticed the sign - there was no one in front of it.
And fwiw there were no tents, but there were a ton of chairs when I walked by. But even if it's something they're going to be enforcing, they can't really enforce it until the box office opens I guess.
Been lurking for about a month and keeping up with everyone's cancellation line adventures. CONGRATS to everyone who has made it in to see it so far! After months of entering the lotto on a daily -- twice daily when possible -- basis, I'm still waiting my turn...
I'm curious to see how these rules will be enforced moving forward. I finally caved and hired a linesitter a few weeks ago for a 30 hour wait in late May, so I really hope I'm still able to see the show on that date. It would be a huge shame if not.
Thankfully I also picked up a pair of Orchestra Row P tickets yesterday for a November date that was released, but I was hoping to be able to see it earlier than that. I guess nothing I can do now but keep my fingers crossed for those lotto tickets!!
I did have a quick question I wanted to bounce to the board. Does anyone know if the mezz overhang will be in the way in Row P? I'm orchestra center, I believe seats 103-104. I heard it could be an issue, but my boyfriend talked me out of the $549 premier tickets, which I was ready to pull the trigger on! Oh well.
Good luck to everyone who will be making the wait in the near future! :)

No, but my friends managed to get tickets. I wanted to see the OBC & I'm happy with that.

Seems like you have a good shot for tonight's tickets. Fingers crossed. How is it going so far?

You'll be fine. I saw the show a few weeks ago via standing room and the only rows in orchestra where the mezz overhang interferes with the view are row U and V.... maybe T. Oh and of course standing room is affected too. The only part you don't see is the 2nd floor of the stage.

Not too shabby! I've made friends with my linemates and we're all hanging out and talking - the Marriot is open for bathroom breaks, and food is right around the corner. I'm feelin' good!
As for the line - I'm still in fifth place, waiting for doubles, and there's a single-ticket guy behind me who has a pretty good chance of getting in. After him is another man that will "take anything he can get". There are four people behind him also expressing the same sentiment, but wanting premium. Total line count is now 13 - first four are line sitters, everyone else wants personal tickets.
Also in relation to the rules, they're still the same today. However, it appears they are only in effect when the Richard Rodgers is open - when it's closed and no one is enforcing it, we were allowed to sleep in chairs and the SOLD guys had their tents. I'm unsure about how hard they're enforcing the swapping rule honestly - like I said, the first four people are line sitters, but they all seem to be friendly with management, so maybe there's some sort of understanding?

So have they made you guys put away your chairs? The SOLD guys both put away their tents when the theater opened, but we all had our chairs all day until they moved us across the the Marquis side at 5pm.

Cool. Did the box office ask you guys to put your chairs away too? Maybe there is a certain understanding. On the days I've visited or been part of the cancellation line in recent weeks, I noticed SOLD tends to have at most 3 line sitters per performance.
