I am going to be line sitting pretty soon. Don't want to say what day or when I plan to get there to avoid an arms race on here

I just wanted to give a huge thank you to the folks on the message board. All your insight and updates have been extremely helpful! I just booked my and my fiancé's trip to New York from CA and i'm heading out a day earlier than her to hop in the cancellation line. Wish me luck you wonderful people!! I'll keep ya'll updated.
Oh and quick question, if I wanted to line up for a show for the next day do I just get in line with everyone else or start a new line?

I'd ask the people in the main line whether there's a line for the next day already. If so, they should point to you where that is. However, I've seen instances where people on that line will state they are also lining up for the next day if they don't get tix that evening. Just an FYI. In that case, you'll have to line up behind them if they don't get tix that evening.

Thanks for the info!!! Again this board is amazing...

I can see how this can be a pretty good deal for someone who was going to wait for a ticket for themselves anyway, since this way they'd get a free ticket out of it and they were already going to put in the time no matter what. Or if they're a college student with nothing else to do. If you just want to see the show for free and don't care about making extra, it seems like a good deal.
"But...weren't the boohoo birds crying last month about how unethical it was that people who never waited in line got to see the show while the poor proletariat classes suffered in wait? Now, its ok, huh? Like I said, very curious change of standards. The funny thing is, the result looks just like the last result. Longer wait times and some folks crafty enough and deep-pocketed enough to avoid the grind. It's even worse now, because now you can exploit someone else for less dough to cheat the system. Atleast "cheaters" in the past, had to sacrafice SOMETHING.

Let us know when you're in place so I can stop by and say YAY!

Will do. I'll keep the thread up to date with all the details
schubox said: This thread and others like it seem to be making it worse. Since the new line rules came out a week or so ago, people on this thread keep talking about getting there earlier and earlier. It was 5 am day of, then 3 am, then midnight, then 10 om. And not its 8 or even earlier. I imagine the theater is going to have to try to do something else because at this point all they've managed to do is eliminate people sitting in chairs. The constant line seems to be back"
I think it has more to do with College and High School graduations around the country and within the state. More of those Hamilton fans are now able to travel to NYC with their families and take their shot at the cancellation line. This trend will continue throughout the summer while school is out.

Whether a line sitter is there or not, you're still gonna have to pay the cost (time or $$) to be the boss. I chuckle at some of the hoodwinkism dressed up on this board. Getting someone to wait for you for 36 hours for a $177 ticket?!!???? Cute. That's a rather lopsided deal if you ask me. I don't see anything pure about that. Atleast line sitters give a square deal where everyone involved gets a fair shake. I'm not trying to persuade anyone to hire a linesitter, just pointing out some of the mental and ethical gymnastics some folks are performing on this message board. The result is the same, without time or money getting cancellation tickets for the hottest show on earth will always be an uphill battle. Well, one things for certain, with line sitters out of the way patrons will turn to sabotaging each other. Moral loftiness and theater geek kumbaya be damned."
Very well said. It really doesn't matter who's in the front of the line, the people in the back are going to watch them like a hawks. It's kind of funny because these same people show up at noon the day of the show and expect to get regular priced tickets from the cancellation line. Then they throw tantrums because the line is so long and take it out on those in the front as if they did something wrong by showing up the day before or super early in the morning.
A lot of people were complaining about the line sitters but now those same people and others are bending the rules and sometimes even breaking the rules. Speaking of line sitters, I actually supported them with the exception of this one lady who seemed shady as hell. The rest of them were very nice and helpful. They gave us tons of information while waiting in line and provided a good presence of security while staying overnight.
Either way, there's going to be long lines from here on out, so be prepared for it and don't take it out on those in front who got there earlier than you did.

I definitely think schools being out is a big factor as well. A rush of 18-22 year olds with nothing else going on definitely make the lines longer earlier. But it seems like people from this board are pretty frequently getting in line, and every time it's earlier and earlier. I think people see someone got on line at midnight and was 4th or 5th so they resolve to get there before that, and so on and so on.

As long as they allow people in line to purchase 2 tickets, those who never waited in line will get to see the show. And as long as those who never waited on line are allowed to be someone else's "plus one," there will be all sorts of variations on how to be that plus one - whether paid or unpaid.
As someone (my favorite brunette?) said, the only way to prevent this is by allowing everyone to purchase just one ticket and go into the theater after purchasing. With the warmer weather and accompanying larger crowds on the way, that may be where we are headed.

I have no vested interest in this discussion at all. I saw the show, honestly didn't care for it, and am going to be re-selling the other tickets I have for it on TM.
However I think it's unfair to call someone a "cheater" because someone else waits in line for them.
The person waiting in line goes through everything everyone else in line goes through. Their reward? They get to buy two tickets to the show.
How is that cheating? I mean the reason they want those tickets, and who uses them, is irrelevant. They did what was required to get them.
"Cheating" would be cutting the line, "cheating" would be bribing a RR employee, "cheating" would be getting tickets from the cancellation line without waiting your turn for as long as you need to....
As long as all rules are being followed no one is "cheating." Just because they are getting in and other people aren't doesn't mean they should be reviled or found to be lacking moral standards.
The tickets are there for the taking by anyone who fairly does what is needed to get them. Getting paid for doing that, either in cash or with a free ticket, in no way makes them a chest and, quite frankly, is no one's business but their's and the person they are waiting for.
"You're misinterpreting my stance. If you'd been following this particular discussion for the last few pages, you'd know I'm not saying waiting for someone, be they line sitter or regular patron or patron who pays said line sitter, is cheating. The reason why I put the word cheater in quotation marks. What I am pointing out is the hypocrisy of the whole controversy that forced the new cancellation policies. I don't care what another person on line is doing, but a lot of people do care. That's what all the line policing is about. So your screed bares no relationship to what I was talking about. Read before responding.
I am currently in line realistically for Wednesday , by my count I am the 15&16 ticket for Tuesday and if everyone who says they will stay if they don't get in today & hold out for Wednesday I Could be back as far as 10.

You got there at 6pm and you're the 15th or 16th ticket? Jesus Christ
Maybe for free tickets. There's plenty of really great seats on TM resale if money isn't an issue. Most dates, the first two rows (not the lottery row) are completely full of TM resales.

After the SOLD saga that happened last week, I ended up having an extremely positive experience with them so I wanted to share. I know they aren't the most popular on the board, but they were a perfect solution for me. I didn't have the time to dedicate to waiting, I couldn't afford most of the resale tickets in the seats I wanted (even when waiting right until showtime for prices to drop), but SOLD was in my price range so I decided to try them out.
After my original SOLD date had to be moved, I was so crushed. As it turns out, the original booking was supposed to be for today, and it sounds like the line is already pretty long so it was probably for the better! They called me up the very next morning to apologize and ask if I was free for the show Saturday evening. I ended up getting 2 premium tickets, sat a few seats down from Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, and even had the good fortune of having 2 empty seats right in front of me, so my view was even better. (I was happy for the view, but also frustrated by the empty seats... People would have killed for those seats. Can't believe they went to waste. Anyway.)
Had I not booked SOLD or had they not been able to get me in for Saturday, I would absolutely be finding someone on this board to pair up with and offering to buy their ticket. I see it as pretty much the same thing, except SOLD happened to make a business out of it. People may not like them, but they're professional and genuinely nice people who want to make sure their clients make it into the show. After they turned my experience around, I'm happy to sing their praises. Of course, I want as many people from the line as possible to be able to make it into the show, so I do encourage anyone using line sitters to go for premium tickets if they're offered (to not take up 2 more $177 tickets that could go to the people behind you). If it's an option that works within your budget, I say go for it. Just my two cents!
