So I am going to be camping out tomorrow and according to the weather it is going to rain late tomorrow night so im kinda nervous about that. who here has camped out in the rain and how bad is it? im bringing my umbrella and jacket but still a little nervous lol
Does anyone know how old you have to be to purchase tickets? If a father/daughter duo are waiting and they each want 2 tix...but she's only 11 years old. I think that's too young right?
I'm planning on camping out with three friends (yes, I know the odds aren't in our favor :,() and was wondering if we'd face problems if we waited on line in shifts. Like if we were to take turns in pairs sleeping and waiting on line, even just during the overnight and waited together the rest of the time once it was morning, would we be risking getting kicked off for any reason?

Risk it? Yeah because you're technically violating the rules. Now whether or not someone is going to enforce them is a whole other matter.

It might be safer if two of you go the whole time and then the third acts as your support -- bringing you food, things like that. Then once tickets become available (if they do!), one of you buys a single ticket for your own use, then the other one buys two tickets and gives one of them to the third/ support person.
But I agree with schubox, the rules currently indicate that you can't swap in line.

I'm assuming you're just getting three tickets? That might be easier to sell then if you're getting 6. But like Jennabee said, if two of you stay the whole time and one comes and goes you're great because you two can get the three seats you need. Hell you may even be okay if one person is there the whole time and the other two swap out, as long as two are always there. It sounds petty but if I was behind you and I kept seeing three people take hour shifts and I'd been out there all night I'd be a little pissed.
Thanks everyone! I wasn't sure if the line swapping rule was just meant in reference to those swapping with people not actually seeing the show. I'll be sure to post our experience when we get to go!
I arrived around 8PM on Friday night and was 4th in line overall but 1st in line for the matinee on Saturday. The family of 3 from Houston arrived about an hour later and another 4 or 5 people arrived by midnight. By sunrise, there were over 20 people in line and by around 10AM that number grew to about 35 people. It was by far the biggest line I've seen so far.
After they sold 11 Premium tickets for the matinee, I ended up getting 2 of the 4 Lottery (Front Row) tickets and one of the Houston girls with her dad bought the other two. Then I believe 4 or 5 people got SRO tickets. I'm not sure I would've paid $477 for premium tickets for a matinee show without Lin or Chris but to each their own. If you plan on paying for premium tickets to a non-Lin matinee show, there's really no need to sleep overnight.
Well after seeing both Javier and Lin perform, I have to give the edge to Lin. Javier was really good but Lin was on a different level. Overall it was a another great experience. I met a lot of nice people, took a selfie with Lin, ate lots of pizza, talked to a couple of time square drunks, and got to take someone to see Hamilton for their first time.

It will be interesting to see what happens next week when Lin switches days off. With Javier taking Sundays starting next week I would assume more people would be willing to grab matinee tickets on Saturday
The swapping rule is enforced...and frankly the last hour of the waiting gets pretty intense. The people further back in the line become the enforcers and it can get pretty unpleasant. I got to the line at 2pm on Friday for the Saturday matinee. I was 6th in line - I spent the night...and my son joined me in the line as we got closer to the time they'd be calling people (around noon). We didn't want premium tickets. We got the last pair of tickets handed out - the two behind us got standing room. From my experience I would agree with the other comment - use your third as someone who can bring you things and be your support - and even then you will hear complaints from people behind you.

Since it's a free country, you can go whenever you're free. Just keep in mind the box office is open on Mondays from 10am-8pm so be prepared to stand as they don't allow chairs.

This is my opinion, as I have not waited in the cancellation line (yet!)...but after reading this thread, I would think 8pm tonight would be OK. Again, just my opinion! If you are in the area, you could always walk over in the afternoon and see if anyone is in line yet, and decide from there.

The e-mail notifications start when you click on "also send responses to my email address" after you post on a subject thread. You will only receive notifications for that subject.
The next time you get an email about that subject, go to the bottom of the email and click on the link after "Click here to remove yourself from this alert" and that should do the trick for that subject only. If you are subscribed to more than one subject, you will have to do this for each one.
Not sure what the weather is like for you guys at the moment, but i thought i might suggest what i use in rainy weather for overnight camp outs. I used to frequently camp out for film premieres and occasionally ive also used them for camping for theatre tickets, but i always use a survival bag. Its just an orange plastic bag that is big enough to sleep in as well as keep your backpack etc in. They are perfect for keeping dry when it rains! And they also fold up to be about the size of a regular sheet of paper, though obviously not as thin lol They sell them in most camping stores over here and they are pretty cheap, though im not sure about in the US. Just thought id make the suggestion since they are so useful! Just google image search survival bag if youre not sure what i mean :)
Thanks again to everyone who keeps this board updated, im counting down the few weeks until my next NY trip!

On this note, for people who have done the overnight sit. What do you suggest to bring? Right now I am planning on a lot of water, some snacks and layers of clothes. Any suggestions to help with sleep? Also I assume a lot of you brought bags. Did you just check them when you got in?
