In my experience, yes. I spent a few weeks scouring CL and had any listings that mentioned "Hamilton" and "Orchestra" emailed to me. None panned out, and most sellers ghosted on me when I asked to meet at the theater so I could verify the tickets were real or when I asked for them to transfer e-tickets to me via Ticketmaster. Not even sure whether or not the theater would be able to verify tickets for me, but most sellers would have some excuse and refused to meet, even when I offered open flexibility since I work nearby.
Bottom line: If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. I would personally stay away from Craigslist since you would have zero protection against fake tickets.
Is anyone going to the Saturday matinee? I'm curious to see who in the cast is doing both shows since Lin should be doing both now that Javier is moving to Sundays
twice. flew in. 1st time from CA, 2nd time from HI. This time from CA. good luck! many resources on this forum. I think I should create a community wiki after this is done.

I asked earlier but I think it got lost. What would you recommend people bring for the sit? I'm thinking bottled water, snacks, layered clothes, sunscreen. Any other suggestions? Did you bring a backpack? And if so did you just check it for the show?
For people who have recently spent the night waiting in line, I'd just like to ask if you were able to bring chairs for the overnight wait. I think someone mentioned that chairs are still OK during the hours when the box office is closed. Just wondering if this is still true. Also, which side of the theater do people wait over night?

I don't think you need sunscreen. When I waited, we were under the awning of RRT in the shade. There was scaffolding over the Marriott carpark garage as well so we were in the shade. I think someone reported the scaffolding is gone now?
I wouldn't drink that much water if you plan to wait from midnight until 6am due to the lack of public bathrooms open during that time.

Yeah the water was just more for the day. Seems like it would be easy to dehydrate during the day. I saw the scaffolding was down. It was there when o sat three weeks ago. Gonna suck with it gone

Do NOT buy from Craig's List. Do not. One reads of many scams there and an arrest. Also someone in my family was scammed in early October via CL. Ticketmaster for resale is really the only way to go IMHO. IF you want to be guaranteed to see the show that is, at resale. Stubhub will guarantee your money, but you (slight small chance) could have a problem ticket wise as the great posting of that NYPost story of the Calif. billionaire's experience the other night shows us (a page or two back).

With the scaffolding gone, then yeah bring sunscreen and bottled water. I think those would be the necessities since chairs are forbidden. Good luck!

Hi Mediamaven. I was on line the same time as Steins two weeks ago. I am 53 and got there at 5 am one day and 4:20 the next morning. There were folks as young as high school age and into their 20's-30's and some folks in their 40's-50's. I remember the overnighter's were in the 20's-30's age group. Anyone else from the week of 5/9 want to comment?
and had zero issues with the box office or anyone in line. When we waited there were a few chairs overnight but first thing in the morning when the first gentleman who worked at the theatre arrived he warned that if anyone else who worked there had seen them with chairs they would have been kicked out.
The coat check may or may not be willing to check bags, but to be honest you're likely going to get into the theater with very little time before the show starts-- do you really want to be worried about finding that coat check and possibly missing the beginning of the show? Plus I was so flustered after actually getting tickets that I kind of blindly walked forward where people were guiding me until I got to my seat. Here's my recommendations on what to bring that fits into a normal-sized backpack, which I was able to stow under the seat during the performance with little trouble (though people taller than me might want to find that coat check after all, to maximize leg room):
--lightweight sleeping bag: they make really tiny sleeping bags now that come with compression sacks. The one I bought took up maybe a quarter of the volume of my backpack. It's summer anyways-- you don't need a heavy-duty sleeping bag, but I would recommend one if you plan to try to sleep at all. It gives a sense of security (you can stow any valuables inside), separates you from the dirty sidewalk, gives warmth (obviously), and if you're short enough you can pull it up over your head to shield you from the bright lights and noise of the street.
--I didn't bring this, but was wishing I had: one or more of those foam stadium seat cushions. I would have liked this to cushion my butt while sleeping (I used my backpack as a pillow) and then to sit on during the day, since it doesn't count as a chair. I tried using a towel for this purpose, but it wasn't quite cushiony enough to be comfortable for sleeping on concrete.
--Portable phone chargers: they sell them at Target for $5. I brought 2 just in case.
--Granola bars/beef jerky/other snacks: in case of hunger in the middle of the night or right before the show when everyone starts getting... less companionable, to put it nicely.
--deodorant, breath mints, glasses/contacts if applicable, a change of shirt if space allows, kleenex: to feel more human. I also optimistically brought a toothbrush but wasn't ballsy enough to use it in a public restroom. YMMV.
--phone/headphones/tablet/kindle: for boredom
--a NON-DISCOVER credit card: this could've been disastrous if my boyfriend hadn't been there with me-- they do not take discover!!!
--something for cast members to sign: because different members come out each night, and you might have a chance while in line to get something signed
--cash: the pizza place across the street is really good and while I think they do take cards, I always feel dumb using a credit card for less than $5, and the pizza is pretty cheap. Also good in case someone else in line makes a drugstore/pizza run and you want to request something.
--To those bringing lots of water: meh, I wouldn't bother. Just buy it as you need it-- water is heavy and takes up a lot of space. The pizza place is literally across the street and sells water, and I think I saw vending machines near the bathrooms in the Marriott. Also definitely pee at 11:30 and then don't drink again until morning-- as others have said, the Marriott closes at midnight.
Okay, I think those are all of my tips. Happy waiting, all!

Thanks again! :)"
I can't remember exactly but it was either 6 or 7am I believe. Either way it was early! The nice thing about those lounge seats is that they unclip and can fold out into like a mini mattress pad, and then you can lean back in it comfortably when it's clipped up. I swear by them for all sorts of things!
