What do you think of Idina Menzel's idea that she play Elphaba in the film and they de-age her in post production?
Here’s the quote:
”I still think that I should be Elphaba and I should just throw, slap that green makeup on me and get some CGI and Benjamin Button the **** out of that. I mean I love you, Ariana, but I still am relevant here.”

I think it's a brilliant idea.

I don’t even think they’d need to de-age her really....
What if they do this like Evita at City Center? Where the characters when they’re young are played by different folks than the act 2 versions of them? Isn’t there like at least a 10-20 year difference between acts? Anyway, it wouldn’t be the first Daldry has used this concept... re: The Crown.

See I’ve wished this to be true for so long. I also wish they would reunite her with Kristin. But to me I would love to see it

I understand that they start in college, but I’ve never understood the obsession with casting very young Elphabas and Glinda. The Wicked Witch should be quite mature by the end of the story. If one more person suggests Ariana Grande...
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Lady Gaga.

If not Idina, this role belongs to GaGa, Ariana or Lea!!
At this point I'd love Idina and Kristin to be in the film. It would be amazing if Idina was Elphie's mom in the beginning, and Kristin would be a hilarious Morrible.
I’m pretty sure she was joking. She’s previously said she’s too old for the role and de-aging someone in film is incredibly expensive. Considering she isn’t that much of a box office draw they may as well get a star for the money they’d spend on the de-aging process.
Someone said it before but I’d love to see her play Melena, Elphaba’s mother. Not sure where Chenoweth could fit into the film - maybe they’d create a fun role for her ala Chita Rivera in Chicago?

The show has made so much money on Broadway in the last 16 years. I'm sure they'd be willing to splash a little extra on de-aging.

what if they made it animated with Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth in their original roles.
Ariana can’t act and is too young.
Anyone who thinks Idina was being serious or any “de-aging” will happen is very much mistaken.

She’s a singer, not an actress. She’s shown her acting limitations on several platforms: HAIRSPRAY Live! and as host on SNL and it left an enormous amount to be desired.
She can sing Elphaba. She can’t act the role.
wow I love how she's unapologetically vouching for herself.

She was the best Penny I’ve seen. And her SNL hosting gig was phenomenal!

That would be really cool! Someone made a storyboard/animatic of the end of Defying Gravity in a 2D-Disney style, and it looked amazing. If Idina can play a 21-year-old in an animated movie and make it an iconic character for the ages, I'm sure she could play Elphaba if they did it animated. OR highlight someone else who has played the role, and "stunt-cast" some of the other parts.

Nope. Don't want to see another 2 hours like Frozen[1 or 2].no matter how good the animation.
