I ask this question yearly, and I always love hearing what everyone says.
Say you had the power to guarantee one 2017 Tony nominee. What/who would be your single dream nomination (either presumably something you don't think will get the actual nomination tomorrow, or something you would absolutely love to see get recognized)? And why?

Stephanie J. Block for Falsettos, hands down. She was absolutely amazing in her role but in his season with a lot of strong featured ladies I'm not so sure she'll get a nom and almost positive she won't win. I would love to see a win for her, she is stunning.

Barrett Doss in Groundhog Day. She'd definitely have a shot in a less-packed season, but Featured Actress in a Musical is just so crowded this year.

In terms of nominees that I don't actually think will happen, I'd love to see Beanie Feldstein get a nod. Same with some of the other cast members of Come From Away besides Jenn Colella. (Adored Colella, to be clear, but I predict she will be nominated.)

YES. I haven't even seen the show yet, but I've been enjoying her performance (and vocals) so much in the clips and cast recording. I'd love to see her sneak in!

I would love to see Beanie Feldstein get a nomination for HELLO, DOLLY! For someone making her Broadway debut, Beanie's performance, especially her physical comedy, is totally at the level of the veterans with whom she shares the stage, and she provided some of my favorite laugh-out-loud moments from the show.

Eva Noblezada. I'm afraid with such a crowded category she may get overlooked but I think her performance was the strongest of the season.

Brittain Ashford from The Great Comet. I don't know when she'll be back on Broadway, but her role was so beautiful and her singing was amazing in the Great Comet. I would love for her to get recognized.

Denis Arndt, if for no other reason than it would be lovely to see a journeyman actor receive recognition for his late-in-life Broadway debut, after a 50-plus year career spent mostly in regional theater.

Another fan of Beanie Feldstein here! I didn't really know much about Minnie Fay but she owned that role and by intermission I can't help but think about all her funny moments and lines!
i still wish Sunday in the Park was in the running. I was blown away by Phillip Boykin's portrayal of the boatman.

Jackie Hoffman for "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". I know the show is likely to go empty-handed tomorrow, and it's sort of a shame for the cast, who is clearly very close and who seem to be having a a blast regardless of the show itself.
P.S. I love this thread!

How I wish the nominating committee disregard what the producers asked for in withdrawing Sunday in the Park with George. I know this is not one but I would love it to not just be nominated bur win in:
Best Revival
Best Actor - Jake Gyllenhaal
And be nominated for Best actress for Annaleigh, orchestrations, lighting design (is chromulum and projections part of the lighting design for this show? If so I would give the tony to them), sup actress (I can't chose! They were all great!), costume design, and sound design.

I'd pick Michael Xavier, who was a much better Joe Gillis than others I've seen. Of course, he'd have to be nominated as Featured Actor, which is kind of ridiculous.

Christy Altomare for Anastasia. Watching Christy in Anastasia, I felt like I was watching a really fabulous moment of someone becoming a star, and moments like that don't come every day. You just can feel everything in her performance and her voice is just gorgeous leading us on her melodic journey.
If I could have a secondary one, I'd pick Gideon Glick for Significant Other because his performance was hilarious, heartbreaking, and just is so close to home and hits so many levels it just feels deserving of a nomination.

Gideon Glick, who gave the best male performance of the season as far as I'm concerned.
Amber Gray in Great Comet.

Gideon Glick as well. I worry that he'll get lost in the shuffle with all the bigger named actors. Fingers crossed for him!

I'd love to see a nomination for Stephanie J Block as well. She was phenomenal in Falsettos, and the sole reason I gave the show a standing ovation.
Honorable mention - He's not qualified (or even on Broadway), but I think Joshua Henry's Aaron Burr was the best stage performance I saw all of last year, bar Cynthia Erivo's Celie.
