JFK or LGA

So - I'm planning a trip to NYC. I generally fly into LGA, but JFK is pretty much the same price for the dates I'm looking at. Which one is closer to Manhattan? Or, at least, which is the cheaper cab ride?
I am planning to see Rent and Spring Awakening.

Posted: 5/10/07 at 10:10pmFly to Newark and then take the train to Penn station. Easiest of all, I think.

LGA- you can take the bus straight in from baggage claim. No waiting for the Airtrain and then circling the whole airport then getting on the subway (either of which is way out in Queens) LGA will save you at least 20-30 minutes.
Newark is good too.

I am going to do LGA + Super Shuttle.
Subway + Baggage = not a very good idea, espicially since alot of subway stations have steps and lots of steps.

We did LGA when we went. 45 mins after we got off the plane we were at are hotel on 52nd. I would say do LGA.

Posted: 5/11/07 at 10:57amPersonally, I would go with LGA. Only because it is on the side of the same roads that you would drive to and from Manhatten on. JFK on the other hand is more pushed to the side of everything and not really near anything and farther from NYC then LGA. Which is why I know that there are people that prefer LGA because of it. As for Newark. Forget about it, I would only use that airport if I had to.

I like JFK just because I don't really like busses. Especially with luggage. How is there anywhere to sit on that bus???
I about screamed when my mom said she got my tickets to go to her family's reunion flying out of LGA. I told her she can reimburse me for my cab fare. Give me JFK any day.

Posted: 5/11/07 at 11:46amWe I went we used a car company. They picked us up in a town car at the door, and took us from LGA to the Novotel Hotel on 52nd the cost was $28. The car was very clean the driver very nice and he even took us on a back road so we wouldnt have to go through a toll. I cant for the life of me remember the name of the company. I will try and remember.

Added a Broadway connection for Kooky.
Thanks for all the information - would love to know the name of the town car company. I usually do LGA with a cab or Super Shuttle (for solo trips). Super Shuttle is good as long as you leave PLENTY of time to get to the city and get ready for an evening show. I like LGA, but I didn't know if JFK was easier, closer, or cheaper.

Posted: 5/11/07 at 8:45pmWhat's the easiest/fastest/cheapest way to get to the city from JFK?

Easiest? Probably a cab.
Fastest? Depending on what time of day, probably AirTrain/Subway
Cheapest? Definitely AirTrain/Subway.
And you don't always have to ride "all the way around"...it depends on the terminal you're coming in and out of.

Posted: 5/11/07 at 9:02pmThanks! How expensive would a cab be? I've got a huge suitcase with me, and if it's not *extremely* expensive, I might wanna just spring for a taxi.

Posted: 5/11/07 at 9:08pmUnless it's gone up again, it's $45 flat rate. Plus tip.
