Yay! Jackie Burns deserves more spotlight, I think. I hope she gets her own starring role soon after she's done with If/Then.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Jackie! She's wonderful. Whoever asked, Idina was out twice last week.. For Friday night and the Saturday matinee.
It's nice to see Jackie getting some positive exposure.

She's out tonight - said last night she wasn't feeling well.

^ Idina's absence since she is sick will be done on a show by show basis, so it's impossible to say how long Jackie will be on for. Idina could be back tonight, or Jackie could be on all weekend. it's hard to say

Going to the Sunday mat. Hope Jackie is on for Idina.

This is a tough situation for them since September has all those 4-show weekends, too. Just imagining the pressure on Menzel especially since she's on stage and singing for 80% of it or whatever...
On the plus side, there didn't seem to be a huge meltdown of complaints across social media when Menzel was out for the last few days compared to May, I think. Word of Jackie's good performance must be getting out too. But if someone really wants to see Jackie specifically, those listed dates on Ticketmaster above are your best bet.

I bought a ticket for Oct 1 when I heard Menzel would be out. Want to see the show, but no fan of the screeching leading lady. Glad to hear the sub is good.

The posted clips of Burns in the role should prove that her performance is a replica of the Menzel Elizabeth, appropriately. I saw the show with Menzel, have viewed Burns clips, and damned if she doesn't look and sound almost exactly like the star. I dare say, from the back of the house, you might swear it was Menzel. I won't get into the "screeching" nonsense, which always crops up with Menzel's vocals are discussed. But Burns sings the show very similarly. It's sort of silly to think she'd try to do anything otherwise.

There is definitely a closeness between the two interpretations of the role, and I'd say that Jackie Burns does as good a job as can be expected from a standby. But I miss that certain edge that makes Menzel's voice so interesting and, on a good night, quite thrilling. I'd love to see what Jenn Colella would do with the role, but I doubt she will ever get the chance to go on.

Eesh and apparently James is out sick too. And with anthony still out, every principle role is being covered today. I heard last night there was an incident with Idina during " I Hate You." Anyone there last night who saw it?

I didn't, but according to reports from those who did (via Twitter), Menzel broke character last night during that number and cried for a moment before recovering. She finished the show fine otherwise. Seems like a rough week for IF/THEN and Ms. Menzel. No idea about tonight, though.

i'm going to tomorrow's mat. I've seen Idina 4 times, Anthony twice, Curtis on for Anthony twice, and Charles on for James once.
Would be nice to see Jackie with a few other understudies. Really hope Anthony is back soon....

I saw a comment on the IF/THEN FB page that Anthony is supposed to be back 9/16, but I don't know how reliable that source is.
Edited: Seems someone tweeted that Anthony is back TONIGHT. ?
