Replying just to change the title on this post so hopefully the following ones don't all still have the old one (unless someone replies to one of those and carries it through)

Could be a bit of a slap in the face to Fitz & Shamos if that were the case, even if a job's a job. They're so different comedically from Rannells & Gad that I assume they'd want to have people who more resemble them (Jared Gertner & Nic Rouleau?) –– and in the continued Covid uncertainty of our world, would be wise to have standbys. People were even willing to see PLAZA SUITE with just Broderick or just SJP, or FUNNY GIRL without Lea, and all 3 of those people are bigger than Gad & Rannells.

"
I'd love to have Will Blum as Gad's standby.

I just don't think the "over the top" depiction of gay people would go over well with audiences today. Would people today think it is funny to see old ladies tap dancing with walkers? Personally, I think the show itself was not that great, the OBC is what made it a huge hit IMO.

I hate the myth that audiences can't take certain subject manner anymore. I think we often forget that the handful of Gen Z. TikTokkers + childless millennial Vulture writers who make things an issue represent a tiny, tiny fraction of theatergoing audiences (and their respective generations as a whole).

Any thoughts on where to sit for this? I haven't been to the Cort in years and I know it was renovated and became the James Earl Jones. Trying not to break the bank and wondering if L in the Orch would be too far back?

It's a small show, so I would choose downstairs as close a possible. Orch L should be just fine.
Is Timbers the only cis straight middle aged white male director working on Broadway?
I'm sure there has to be more they can hire to direct everything else.
What a weird take when we have Kail, the two Michaels and Casey Nicholaw directing literally everything else.
Anyoo, I saw Tommy last night The Goodman, and one of the actors listed Guttenberg: The Musical as a tv/film credit. Is there a recording of it somewhere?

Yes the recording with Jeremy Shamos and Christopher Fitzgerald who originated the roles off-broadway is available on Apple Music
has anyone else bought tickets for this yet or are people waiting to see if deals popup?

Yes, we've already bought our tickets for two separate dates - needed specific dates and wanted center orchestra so we were willing to pay a premium for them.
They listed it as tv/film so wondering if there's a taped of the visual?

I bought for X-mas since I wanted an aisle seat, & don't expect discounts for that time of year
Good interview with Rannells on Daily Beast. Title is a bit of a click bait as most of the article is not about him sexually harassed.

Are there no discount codes? It doesn’t appear to be selling too well (at least all the dates i was looking at) so I’ll hold off until something pops up.

Looking at previews while the first night is likely going to be sold out there are good chunks of seats up until opening night
Also loving all the social media stuff they are doing
Do we know who the standbys are? And isn’t there a third character? I swore I read there was another part in this show, do we know who is in that part yet?

The script has a third character, but they're basically just there to play the piano.

From what I have heard this show now has a three-piece band
Just Josh and Andrew with a 3 piece band- orchestra? No ensemble, that's it!
NO desire

that's the point of the show...they play all the characters it's built into the story...

I just got a notification from TodayTix: 25% off, $99 front mezz seats at some performances.

I for one thought it was a cheap trick when noted hacks Bob Fosse and Neil Simon had Sid Caesar playing all those different parts in LITTLE ME instead of hiring a different actor for each.

Gee, too bad you are required by law to attend --- oh WAIT, you're NOT!
No desire? -- don't go -- see how simple that was?
