"That review stings. I'm surprised the NY Post was interested in reviewing a replacement at this late stage of the show. Sigh. Hopefully Taye will improve his performance, so that he gets some other reviews that are positive.
And SDV manages to make a jab at Darren Criss, because of a review of Taye, in the Taye thread. Not surprising. (Unless I am misinterpreting the comment. If so, I apologize.)"
Judging by how late in the game this is, for the show and for Taye who has been in for almost a full month now, and how negative that review was, I can only assume they heard he wasn't doing to so great and though it would make for a good story/review/click bait. It's very unfortunate that he's been getting reviews and they haven't been so great. Hopefully some good can come of it and it will be the kick in the pants needed to get everything together for a strong final eight weeks.
"Oops, forgot this site is policed by the DC stans."
"Gawd, the overly defensive Darrenstans are amazing. I'm also bummed about the decline of the show since JCM left. Saying that really shouldn't result in this kind of instantaneous pile-on."
This site isn't policed by "DC stans" and there is no pile-on. It's just that at this point putting him down to that degree is beating a very dead horse and people are tired of it. Over his three months in the role Darren proved himself to be at the very least a passable Hedwig, and to an even lesser point, from day 1 (and certainly by day 20) he knew his lines and choreography. If you're going to continue to put randomly bring up to put down someone who most people seem to agree was pretty great overall, be prepared for people to call you out on it. Calling people who do so "Darrenstans" is childish. I'm aware that opinion is opinion, but at a certain point it becomes clear that "opinion" is being used to validate random hate, and I will defend against that.
